One Awesome Weekend

Last weekend was a blast. It started a wee bit early for me, too. I spent Friday night until Saturday morning at Grand Prix Hotel & Suites Manila for a bloggers event. The hotel was kind enough to accommodate us 12 bloggers for a night of familiarization (of the hotel), chow, booze and videoke. The place was cozy and the rates were affordable, I suggest you check it out one time. I loved it there.

When lunch time of Saturday arrived, I went with my fellow bloggers to Alabang Town Center in Alabang, Muntinlupa City to partake of the delightful seafood feast at Blackbeard’s Seafood Island. I was so stuffed with the huge amount of food I ate that I intentionally skipped dinner when I got home. Or did I? Whatever, all I can remember is that I had fun and still had energy for the next day which was a Sunday.

Loving Kenny Roger’s Frozen Yoghurt

My love affair with frozen yogurt or fro-yo started after I had learned of its healthy goodness. Not only does yogurt taste good, it’s also low in fat (some yogurt shops sell non-fat, too), rich in nutrients and has the digestive benefits of probiotics. I love that it’s a great replacement alternative to ice cream and available any time of the day, what with the mushrooming of yogurt shops here in Manila in the last two years.

But, did you know that yogurts are not only confined to yogurt shops or the supermarket? Now even restaurants have them on their menu. Take Kenny Roger’s Roasters, for instance. This quick-service, casual dining restaurant that serves deliciously healthy American favorites, now offers Frozen Yoghurt. Yes, that’s yogurt with an “H.” I had a taste of it during a recent bloggers’ night at Kenny Roger’s Katipunan and since then, I have been hooked.

Magnolia Frozen Delight: Pinipig Crunch

Nothing beats summer heat than a trip to the beach but when there’s low probability to do just that (like in my case), ice cream could always do the trick. Right now, I’m craving for some Magnolia Pinipig Crunch in sweet corn flavor. I blame this to the Magnolia Summer Bloggers Party I attended last April Fools Day where I first got a taste of it along with the rest of Magnolia’s frozen delights.

This sweet corn pinipig crunch is addicting because it has the familiar taste of corn and rice crispies along with the comforting goodness of Magnolia ice cream. This is one cool and affordable treat that’s readily available to Pinoys this summer. Definitely, I’ll choose this flavor over the chocolate one anytime. That, even if I’m a self-confessed chocoholic. The sweet corn flavored pinipig crunch is that good.

Saturday is Pampering Day

After a busy work week, I finally had the chance to spend Saturday pampering myself. Thanks to a blogger friend, I was able to go on a road trip and enjoy a feast of Indonesian food at John Bamboo Sate House. Its first and only branch (at present) was located at Nuvali, a bustling, self-sustaining community in Sta. Rosa City, Laguna. Not only that, he even got us (me and our other blogger friends) a full body massage at Ritz Spa in Malate. It was oh-so relaxing and rejuvenating, I tell you. How I wish all Saturdays of my life could be like that.

It was my first time to set foot at Nuvali and I so liked it there. There were restaurants, banks, convenience stores and specialty shops and boutiques. The facilities were clean and green. It also had a man-made lake where koi (a kind of ornamental carp) abound. One could feed the cute koi after paying a small fee. There were also boat rides and bicycles for rent. All this and more make it a great place for families (and lovers, too) to spend the day together.

Dinner-less Tuesday

I was supposed to not have dinner last Tuesday but I ended up having a delicious plate of Tuscan Chicken meal (P199) from Figaro-Robinson’s Ermita Branch. It had a small serving of pasta in red sauce, chicken fillets with herbs and spices and some salad. It was light and flavorful and I loved it. I didn’t touch the iced tea that came with it, though, because I was limiting my caffeine intake. I was with Edwin and he gladly drank it instead.

So, why dinner-less Tuesday still? Well, I actually want to try doing it for a month. Like how I wanted to have a meatless day, a no-sweets day and a no-caffeine day before. This is my way of disciplining myself when it comes to food. I am a voracious eater, you know. Pigging out used to be my pastime until I learned to value my health. Now I watch what I eat and strive to balance the variety of food I consume.

Mall of Asia on a Friday

Going to Mall of Asia (MOA) on a Friday isn’t always a bright idea. We just came back from the place and it was filled with people dining out and prolly doing some last minute shopping before going home and spending another fun weekend. Traffic was pretty bad on our way home especially as we passed thru CCP Complex. And to think the much-hyped pyromusical wasn’t starting in the next 12 hours.

Heavy traffic and big crowd aside, our trip to MOA was still fun. I was with the boyfriend and his family. We had dinner at Kenny Rogers and I immensely enjoyed my huge Cheeseburger meal. I know, I shouldn’t be eating big time during dinner to avoid gaining more weight, but what could I do? The burger was juicy and flavorful and somehow I felt compelled to finish it. I know I’ve been taking more meat than fiber and that’s the reason my bowel movement has been acting up the past days. I’ll just make it up with my tummy by trying out colonetix or drinking more water than usual. Hehe.
