On Standing Up for Yourself

Standing up for yourself when someone tries to put you down is always the right thing to do. You can’t not look after yourself. Before someone attempts to protect you, it’s you who has to fight for your dignity or reputation. Now that I’m married, my instincts to protect and fight back have doubled.

Funny but I sometimes I wish I’m as tough as a Delafield hydraulic hose so I could face anything or anyone. (Please pardon the thoughtless analogy, but, you get the point.) But no, I have my limitations and I have loved ones to protect. I have also learned to choose my battles wisely.

Healthy Eating

I know this is TMI but my bowel movement is quite unpredictable these days. My stomach would suddenly ache (the good kind) which would prompt me to go to the restroom but once I’m sitting on the throne, it’d stop and my goal wouldn’t be achieved (haha). I attribute this to the lack of fiber in my diet.

The past few days I’ve been eating meat and dairy products non-stop. I bought breakfast cereals two weeks ago to reintroduce fiber in my diet but I always forget to eat it up because I’m always in a hurry for work. Good thing there’s always a vegetable viand in my lunch meal, though I think it’s not enough. I guess I’ll have to start eating healthy again.

New Braces, New Dentist

After two years of wearing braces, I’m still a braces-wearer. But it’s a new set this time installed by a new dentist. I won’t say my former dentist isn’t good, because she is. Perhaps, she’s just not good enough. And I know I am to be blamed as well because at some point, I became a disobedient and uncooperative patient.

I had to get a new set of braces because some of my teeth moved badly. The result was undesirable and so I decided to have the affected teeth corrected by getting a new dentist to work on it. Given that, I had to pay for the services just like before. (The process had to start all over again as well.) Unfortunately for me, it was way more expensive than I expected. That, even if I had already been given a big discount.

Midnight Mercato with Friends

It’s been a while since the last time I went to Midnight Mercato at The Fort. This awesome foodie place has been in existence for more than a year now (if I’m not mistaken) and yet it still continues to attract patrons, mostly yuppies and families. Last night, I went there with the hubby, my SIL and my two good friends and we had a nice food trip!

Let me tell you a secret. In the many times that I’ve been to Midnight Mercato, I only order the same stuff. Like, seriously. I get this flavored fried rice that sells for less than 100 bucks a cup, some mild-spicy Manang’s Chicken wings (this one tastes better than Bon Chon’s in my opinion!), a bottle of Edgy’s refreshing dalandan juice and a slice of red velvet or carrot cake. That’s it. All yum. And affordable, too.

Hello, November!

My November has started quite alright. On the first day, which is the day of all saints here in the Philippines, the husband and I were visited by our families and we celebrated together. We partook of a nice meal came dinnertime and offered prayers for our departed loved ones in the late evening.

Our shoebox of a house in Cavite became the overnight sanctuary of ten people. You can just imagine how crazy it had been but we survived, we even had so much fun doing things together. It was like a great bonding activity for all of us. I wouldn’t mind having our families around in our humble abode during occasions like this.

Time to Go Out

So it seems I can now go out and have fun. Or so I’ve been told by the hubby. We’re meeting up with a friend tomorrow night and I’m taking advantage of this opportunity to unwind even just for a few hours.

You see, I’ve been stuck at home recovering from a surgery for weeks now. I’ve been raring to go out already. When I had a follow-up check up with the doctor last Monday, I specifically asked when I could go out or travel. She said I can already do so but have to be careful with my movements. Cool.
