On Checklists and Travels

Whoever coined the term “checklist” is a genius. Making a checklist in everything we do seems to be the most effective way to make sure everything has been taken care of and properly done. When it comes to traveling, a travel checklist helps greatly in making sure we get to bring everything we’d need in the entire duration of our travel.

For our travel this weekend, my travel checklist is simple and straightforward. As I wanted to pack light and travel light (sort of my travel philosophy!), I am bringing only the essentials (e.g. travel documents, vanity kit, clothing, pocket money, etc.). I think two pairs of footwear as well as two pairs of sunglasses to use alternately (one pair of RayBan sunglasses and one pair of old yet still trendy sunglasses purchased from a local fashion brand ages ago) will do for when it’s time to explore the city by foot.

A Necklace Business

I have this list of dreams in an Excel file kept inside my PC which I update whenever I think of a new dream I want for myself. One of the dreams I have the pleasure of keeping alive in my heart and mind is putting up a necklace business. This is known only to a few but I have a penchant for necklaces. I love wearing them and I love making them, too. Yes, I can make my own necklace made from scratch or from recycled materials.

Actually, I already have a name for my necklace business but I won’t tell anybody just yet. Clue: it’s a secret name derived from a brand of headphones. Haha. Soon I will make my necklace business dream come true. I will sell different kinds of necklaces, from bead necklaces to stainless steel necklaces, from those made from conventional design pieces to those created from indigenous materials. I will make them all and change the world of fashion with my necklaces.

Free Bone Scan from Anlene

Anlene is a popular milk brand catering primarily to women who are pregnant or are already in their advancing years. When mom and I did some grocery shopping yesterday at SM Manila, we chanced upon their booth offering free bone scan while promoting their products. They brought a bone scan machine with them along with a medical technician to operate it. We just had to avail of the free bone scan and so we joined the queue and we were done in no time.

Guess what, mom had a low risk result while I was categorized under medium risk! How come she had stronger bones than mine considering our age gap? My mom howled with laughter after learning about my bone scan result. Soon enough I was laughing with her, too. Maybe, this has something to do with my dieting. I lack many important nutrients because of the limited food portions. I better start adding more calcium to my diet now. As for mom, she promised to lessen her coffee intake as we found out caffeine helps increase one’s risk level of getting osteoporosis and other bone diseases.

Laptop Repair

When we attended the burial ceremonies for my deceased aunt in the province, I had the chance to update myself on the lives of my other cousins and I’m sure they had the same experience as mine. Until now, I am amazed by the transformations we’ve been through. I’m talking about the physical and economical changes in our lives.

One of my cousins, for instance, will soon continue her studies as a college freshman. We just got a text from her yesterday that she passed the entrance exams at STI. What good news! Now, all she needs are school supplies and one of those laptops for students (for better study habits!) and she’ll be good to go. Did I mention she’s gonna be a Jollibee scholar? Yes, that’s right. She’s been working for Jollibee as a service crew and they eventually learned that she wanted to finish her studies. Now they wanna help them in their own little way. Cool.

More Blessed and Wiser at 28!

It’s my birthday today and I have a thousand reasons to celebrate it. I’m now a 28-year-old lady but still feel and act like a teenager most of the time (teheee). I don’t expect any gifts from anyone but I expect warm greetings to fill my special day from morning until night.

At 28, I’m already engaged to the man I want to spend the rest of my life with. Soon we’ll start planning our wedding that’s set for next year. (Yes, we do love to cram, haha). I’m just so glad that at this age, I have already accomplished quite a handful for myself and for my family. I may not be rich by society’s standards, but I’m not poor, either. I think I just have enough to live a decent, comfortable life and provide for the needs of my parents and my two college student siblings.

New Cars Everywhere

It’s a known fact. Despite what your Economics teacher has told you, cars are no longer considered a luxury but a necessity, an asset instead of a liability. Sure, its market value depreciates the moment you drive it out from the auto shop, but the convenience and safety it brings (and the prestige that comes with it) will forever make you grateful. That’s especially true if you’re a frequent land traveler and love long road trips.

The fiancee and I were having a car conversation the other day. He shared with me that more and more of his officemates were buying a car. While some go for the brand new ones, others prefer the pre-owned kind for economical reasons.
