Weekend Story: Undas 2018

Last long weekend was fun but challenging at the same time. We had so much time but so much to do as well. First, there was Undas or All Saints Day. As what has been our arrangement in the past years, the hubby and I joined my parents and my sister Jodie in traveling to our hometown in Nueva Ecija to visit the grave of my father’s parents who I fondly called Tatay and Inang. We also got to catch up with some of our relatives who filled us up with new anecdotes and laughter and of course, food.

Second, there was Kalag-kalag or All Souls Day that my PILs prepare for every November 2nd as a way of remembering our departed loved ones with reverence. After praying the rosary, we feasted on grilled tilapia, grilled liempo, pork sinigang, baked spaghetti, baked garlic and parmesan chicken, and lotsa rice. We also had a cake from Max’s and the kalamay na may sabaw and ube haleya that we brought from my hometown for desserts. The boys had a few bottles of beer while the girls drank soda. Happy times!

Weekend Story: Manila All The Way

So, last weekend was spent in Manila. We weren’t able to go to Bacoor because Edwin came back to Manila from Davao (work) on Saturday night only. I, on the other hand, spent half of my Saturday with Mame. We watched a stage play at CCP entitled “Ang Pag-Uusig” (a Filipino adaptation of Arthur Miller’s The Crucible play) and had dinner at SM Manila. On Sunday, the hubby and I heard the morning mass with my in-laws and after that, went out to finished some errands in QC and Pasay. And just like that, it’s a brand new week again, haha.

Weekend Story: Couple Time + Shopping for Birthday and Christmas Gifts

Last weekend flew by swiftly for the hubby and me and we were out most of the time. On Saturday, we drove to Powerplant Mall in Makati because we wanted to buy each other birthday presents (our birthdays are just one week apart). And since it was also our 14th anniversary as a couple last October 18th, anniversary gift na rin daw, haha. I wanted to get a new bag to replace my worn-out and overused Longchamp bag but didn’t find anything that caught my fancy. I was eyeing this particular Coach bag but the price at the store was just too much. I just told the hubby I’d ask a relative abroad who’s vacationing in the US to look for it there. I’m sure mas malaking mura dun! He, on the other hand, was able to get a leather crossbody bag (as birthday/anniversary present from me) which he plans to use when he attends work-related seminars/conferences in and out of town (he has one this week!).

Weekend Story: Birthday Weekend in Baguio City + Meet Up with A Blogger Friend

It was just an impromptu trip but it turned out to be so much fun because, well, I was with the hubby. So, I celebrated my 35th birthday last Friday (October 12th) through a simple family dinner where I had food delivered via @papacarbsph on IG. Sarap ng food nila ha, at mura pa! The prices of their dishes good for 12pax range from PhP699 to PhP1,499 only. I will definitely order from them again!

Weekend Story: Bonding with my Parents + My First Pair of Converse Shoes

I dream of a time when I could date my parents every week. I have always believed that family always comes first and that just spending time with them is one of the happiest and most worthwhile things I could do in life. That’s why I’m glad I got to spend the weekend with my parents. The hubby and I drove to Bacoor with them on Friday night, right after we had family dinner at a Chinese restaurant to celebrate Edwin’s 39th birthday.

Our weekend turned out to be fun and as laidback as it should be except for the side pasyal to BiƱan City in Laguna on Saturday afternoon to visit my aunt and my two cousins (one of them is an OFW who has just come back from Bahrain for a short vacation). After catching up with just my aunt because my cousins had previous commitments, we took home some pasalubongs. It was getting late so we had a stop over at Nuvali in Sta. Rosa City to have dinner pa pala. Banapple was my personal choice because I only get to taste their popular banoffie pie whenever I’m in the area. Haha.

Weekend Story: Pippo’s 6th Birthday in Heaven + Roadtrip to Liliw, Laguna + Feast Day of St. Michael the Archangel in San Miguel, Manila

I don’t know if you’ve noticed it, but every time the hubby and I observe the birth/death anniversary of our little angel (September 28th) and the day falls on a weekend or falls close to the weekend, we take a leave from work, go to a church we haven’t visited before, and just spend time together. It’s been sort of a tradition for us as we go on with our lives here on earth without our son Pippo. So, last Friday, we did just that by going on a roadtrip to Liliw, Laguna.
