GM Diet, Day 1

This is the first time I’m following a diet plan and documenting about it. The name is General Motors Diet or simply GM Diet. (Try googling it and you’ll see a lot of sites talking about it, recommendations, reviews, tips and all.) Basically, it’s a 7-day diet plan originally designed for General Motors Corporation employees to stay in shape and has become quite popular over the years. I would find out later, though, that the GM claim isn’t true. It’s actually more of a modified version of the cabbage soup diet. But I digress.

I first found out about the GM Diet from a blog I visited yesterday. Now, what has made me decide to take on this diet challenge? I have several strong reasons:

1. The food required are all healthy and readily available.
2. The diet plan claims to achieve a weight loss ranging from 10 to 17 lbs, if complemented with exercise.
3. It’s also a sort of “detoxifying” diet.
4. I’ve decided to take my weight loss goal more seriously.
5. This is my first try to follow a diet plan. If it ends up a failure, I’ll just charge it to experience. Haha.

Toxic Tuesday

This morning at home, I was feeling very lazy and had a difficult time getting out of bed. To be honest, I’m not feeling so well today. I even thought of taking a sick leave just so I could get more sleep. But my mature side won the mental battle and so I ended up in my office desk a few hours later.

It was a toxic Tuesday in the office. I did a lot of stuff and felt like a drained battery when lunchtime came. Actually, I was silently praying for time to pass more swiftly so I could take some rest before going to work in the restaurant tonight. Too desperate, I know.

Four Down, Nineteen To Go

After a month of monitoring my food intake (and my weight on the scales, too), I am happy to announce that I lost 4 lbs. It’s not impressive I know, but it’s not bad, either. By doing this mini weight loss challenge, I have found out that I can be serious when it comes to testing my determination and discipline to achieve a certain goal.

Now that I’ve lost 4 lbs. already, I still have 19 more to shed off to achieve my ideal weight of 115 lbs. I know it’s not gonna come easy, but I’m giving it a try. Little achievements like this are a big deal to me. It gives me a warm, fuzzy feeling. It makes me real happy. It’s akin to when you join in a golf tournament and end up winning golf trophies because you played great. Come to think of it, the rule of that sport can be applied to weight loss, too. The lesser tries you make to get that perfect shot, the better. The lesser time it takes for you to lose weight, the earlier you can face the world in a better shape and with a brighter perspective.

Goal No. 1: Lose Weight!

I want to start the year right. Topping my 2011 goals is losing weight. Unlike others who have only gained a few pounds after the holidays, I welcomed 2011 with 20 unwanted pounds. Yes, not just one or four but 20. Imagine that. I’m bordering on obesity and I’m very alarmed. I know in my heart I have to do something about it.

I have started dieting last week. So far, I have already lost four pounds. Some may think it’s fast but fortunately for me, I have this way of losing weight that only my body can understand. Hopefully, I could go back to my ideal weight of 115 in the coming weeks.
