Weekend Story: Bacoor Staycation + MIL’s Birthday Celebration

It’s funny how I always consider going home in Bacoor as a “staycation.” You cannot blame me, though, given our current living arrangement. After all, it’s just the the hubby and me there and our room is as cozy as we wanted it to be. Plus, it’s air-conditioned! (Our room at my PILs’ place isn’t.) Well, I guess such a little luxury makes a big difference especially in this tropical country of ours. The fact that we only get to enjoy it during weekends (and not if we miss going home for the weekend) make it sweeter. I highly doubt I’d appreciate having an air-con room as much as I do now if I get to enjoy the comfort of an air-con room every night. Oh, the beauty of rarity!

That’s why I’m glad last weekend was another Bacoor staycation. We arrived home on Friday night and left for Manila on Sunday afternoon for a family dinner at Sincerity Cafe & Restaurant (Lucky Chinatown Mall branch) to celebrate my MIL’s 68th birthday!

Weekend Story: Death in the Family

It was one of those days that I dreaded to come. Receiving a sad news on a supposedly happy weekend was terrible. The hubby’s grandmother is gone. She died in her sleep. She was 73. In a way, she was still lucky because her death was a quick one. If I could have it my way, I wanna die under the same circumstance.

Rest in peace, Lola Betty!

The hubby’s family is mourning right now. Lola Betty’s remains lie in state at their family home in Bohol. My in-laws are flying there tomorrow. We are following them on Saturday as the hubby still needs to attend to some school requirements.

Lucky Chinatown Mall in Binondo

Last Friday night, the hubby and I braved the heavy rains so I could attend a food event at Lucky Chinatown Mall in Binondo. I would find out later that this newly-opened mall is run by Megaworld Corporation, the one that brought us Eastwood City at Libis, Quezon City and Venice Piazza at McKinley Hill, Taguig City. The mall is a five-storey shopping complex, complete with a supermarket, shops, cinema houses and parking spaces.

There’s no denying that the mall looks posh and decent, not to mention good-smelling. Personally, I liked the shops there, though most of them looked pricey to me. I think I saw some beauty bars and clothing stores, an SM Appliance Center and even an office supplies shop that sells nice desk grommets. As for restaurants, they have a clean-looking food court dotted with Chinese eateries (and with my fave Chicken Charlie, too!) as well as free-standing restaurants such as Chicken Bonchon, Italliani’s, The Red Crab Alimango House and Tao Yuan, among others.
