Weekend Story: Work, Work, Work…

I had a work weekend while the hubby spent his doing the things he loves most — biking, getting online, doing the laundry, eating, and sleeping. I have no regrets, though, because work is work. It’s something you do because once upon a time, you signed your contract and committed yourself to it in exchange for money and career advancement. If your job happens to be something you love doing, then consider yourself lucky (I know I am!).

So, the hubby and I weren’t able to go home in Bacoor. I went to work on both days (Saturday and Sunday) as we had a big event we needed to be very prepared for. The event happened on Sunday morning at 10AM which was actually a gathering of the highest ranking officials in the country, members of the diplomatic corps, and people from the civil society to celebrate the 118th Philippine Independence Day. The event turned out to be a success.

Weekend Story: Biking + Wedding and Christening + Trip to Sta.Rosa City and Biñan, Laguna

Last weekend was a hectic one but the hubby and I survived the busyness and even had lots of bonding time with family and friends.

Our Saturday morning was spent biking at Mall of Asia. We always feel great during and after our bike ride so we plan to continue doing this for a long time. I now join him also when he bikes during weeknights. #balikalindog

How Frugal Are You?

I grew up in a lower middle class family. Ours was a one-income household until my father, the wage-earner, lost his job in 1999. Frugality became a clear concept to me when I started assuming the role of breadwinner in a family of six right after I landed a job fresh out of university back in 2004. How our family survived from 1999 to 2004 was clearly a manifestation of the great love and sacrifice of my parents, our relatives, friends of our family, and of course, divine providence.

Frugality as a Need

These days as a married woman, I still find frugality a very relevant concept as I try to be a good and responsible wife. Of course, it’s the same with my other roles such as daughter, sister, friend, and citizen. How can I not apply frugality in my life when I’m not at all wealthy and my income is limited? I have to be frugal if raising my own family and having a comfortable retirement are part of my life goals, right? But the more important question is, how frugal am I?

Weekend Story: Carmona-GMA Road Trip and X-Men: Apocalypse in 3D

Last weekend was busy and fun. The hubby and I went on an impromptu road trip to buy some bike parts in Carmona and visit a friend in GMA (both places are in Cavite). We also watched the latest X-Men film in 3D at SM Manila. The rest of our time saw us doing household chores and taking some rest at home in Bacoor.

On Saturday, I intentionally skipped biking to sleep longer and continue reading this book on good manners for those “nice people” who sometimes say f*ck. Basically, it teaches how to behave well in public and deal with rude behavior in everyday life. I’ve been enjoying the read so far and I hope to finish it soon.

Weekend Story: Mother’s Day Celebration + National Elections 2016

Last weekend was great. Mame, my brother Dan, and my sister Nyam joined the hubby and I in our Bacoor home. We drove there on Saturday night and went back to Manila on Monday morning for the national elections.

The hubby and I had an impromptu Captain America movie date on Saturday noon. He said he wanted to treat me because it’s Mother’s Day the next day. Para matuwa raw ang aming angel son Pippo sa kanya. Haha. In fairness, we enjoyed our time together.

Weekend Story: MIAS 2016 + Biking in Alabang + Decluttering at Home

As the title suggests, those three things were the highlights of last weekend for the hubby and me. They got us preoccupied and happy and before we knew it, the weekend was over and a new work week has arrived.

MIAS 2016

The hubby is fascinated with cars. Well, actually, most men are. He didn’t wanna miss the Manila International Auto Show happening from April 7-10, 2016 at the World Trade Center so he planned our Saturday well and included going there in it. While I am a supportive wife, I also try to negotiate for my personal gain. This time, it was a dinner at the resto of my choosing and a couple of minutes of (window) shopping at the nearby Mall of Asia (MOA). So, we had a deal and we were both happy. Haha.
