Life is a game of choice.

Everyday, there are choices we need to make, choices that are either favorable or unfavorable, meaningful or useless. When we make a choice, we consider different factors, factors that influence the choices we make in one way or another.

To be happy is a choice. It’s something that we can do, something that we are encouraged to be. We can either bear the suffering or end it. We can either move on and face tomorrow or get left behind suffering from the wounds of the past. In the end, it’s all about making a choice, no matter what consequences we are in and no matter what limited choices we are given with.

Proud Sister

Well, I just got prouder. Of my fresh-grad sister N who is now working. Yesterday was technically her first day at work. She said she’s enjoying her job and that’s good to hear. I hope she adjusts fast and well to the working environment there and remains focus on her goals.

In my sister’s case, landing a job didn’t come that easy. She’s experienced getting rejected by some companies either because she didn’t pass the qualifying exams or had no work experience to complement her resume. It was a good thing she didn’t give up that easy. She tried and tried until she succeeded.

On Sticking to One’s Budget

If there’s one thing I used to hate myself from doing, it’s my not sticking to the budget I set for myself. Whenever I’d overspend and lack funds to pay for my bills, I’d blame myself for not taking my finances seriously.

Fortunately, I’ve learned my lesson already. I now look at my finances in a more mature way. I make it a point to pay my bills on time and down to the last centavo. The good result? It saves me from headaches and panic attacks. Plus, it gives me peace of mind knowing that I get to pay my obligations and track my money well.

Investing on Real Estate

Last weekend was quite bitin but still fun. We went home Friday night and left for Manila Sunday evening instead of the usual Monday morning. We just slept and ate and cuddled and the cycle just repeated itself. On Sunday afternoon, we attended the house blessing of our friend at a high-rise condominium in Makati.

These days, investing in real estate is popular whether it’s a town house, a single-detached house and lot or a condominium unit. That friend of ours, who works as an engineer in Japan, plans to have his two-unit condo rented to augment his monthly mortgage payment. Good idea, isn’t it?

Boys and Their Hobbies

Boys will still be boys. I always hear this from my married girl friends. They say their hubbies have their own “hobbies” that they continue to pursue and enjoy until this day. Aside from his hobby of changing gadgets (which he thinks is a necessity!), I don’t know of any other hobby that interests my hubby at present.

Well, he used to collect FHM magazines until he met me. Haha. Now he only collects Top Gear magazines, and billing statements. I’ve told this many times, he’s just a simple man. I’m lucky he’s not into collecting stamps, logo golf balls or cars because that could be very costly! I can’t imagine him spending his hard-earned money on those things.

My Growing Movies-to-Watch List

Since I got my previous Nokia E63 phone sometime in 2008, I’ve been keeping a list of movies that I would like to watch when I get to have some free time. Over the years, however, “free time” has been quite elusive to me and priorities got in the way. I got my hands full with stuff that required my immediate attention. Thus, my movies-to-watch list has been continuously growing ever since.

If you’re curious enough, here are some of the movies included in my list (just don’t ask WHY because I have my reasons, mostly personal, for wanting to watch them):
