New Life

Our wedding was a success, and as solemn and meaningful as we wished for it to be…thank God! All the hard work that we put into it paid off. And I can’t thank enough all the people who helped made our dream wedding come true. Just thinking about all of them and their contributions to our wedding can make my tear ducts go on overdrive any moment. Thank you so so very much from the bottom of my heart. You know who you are.

My new life as a wife has just started. I can’t wait for the many challenges, adventures and milestones that I’m going to have. I know it’s not gonna be easy and smooth-sailing all the time, but I’ll see to it to keep the faith and work hard to make things work. This is a blessing from God. I really wished for this to happen and so I’m gonna take good care of this gift.

It’s Cramming Time!

It’s ironic how I hate the word “cramming” yet I have embraced the bad practice of cramming through the years. Back in college, I would always cram whenever exam period was fast-approaching. At work, I still cram in finishing some of my monthly tasks, albeit discreetly. Haha.

My wedding is happening very soon. I still have a few things to do and as much as I don’t want to cram, I feel like I’m cramming already. I know I should be taking my beauty rest now (I’m the bride, after all) but I can’t just do that at this point. I cannot afford to mess up on my wedding day. I’m so glad I made a wedding checklist which, so far, has been keeping me sane with all the last-minute wedding details that I need to attend to. Oh my, wait a sec, I just remember my florist told me to get some gift baskets for the styling of the reception venue.*cramming starts here*

Disappointed

When you have high expectations on something, the chance that you’d get disappointed is also high. Through the years, I’ve learned not to put high expectations on anything or anybody. I don’t exactly believe in “lasting first impressions.” Most of the time, the humble ones produce the best output and shine the brightest. Erhm, make that all the time.

Same thing with services. When you are paying for services, the cheap ones are usually substandard and good only for a single use. In this case, the chance to be disappointed is high as well. But I don’t want to generalize. I’ve seen and dealt with several service providers who came cheap but delivered on their promises. It’s a matter of luck, I guess. Oh and, online reviews are a good gauge when it comes to these service providers.

When Jokes Become Offensive

They say jokes are half-meant. That people say jokes to communicate their subconscious thoughts indirectly, in a light manner. This is sometimes true and sometimes not. I believe it depends on the true intention of the person when joking. Jokes are people’s way of switching to a different topic or simply making things lighter and more fun. Sometimes, jokes are people’s way to show that they are in control of things, even if oftentimes that’s not really the case.

I love to joke around with people. Yes, I can be cool like that. But I guess, sometimes, I tend to give the meanest jokes that some people get offended by them. But what can I do? I’m just trying to keep things light. Or perhaps, in some situations, I’m just trying to lessen my worries when deep inside I’m anxious about something. At least I know in my heart I don’t have bad intentions when I say these jokes.

More Work To Do

The last few weeks (and days, if I may add!) prior to a big event are the busiest. If you have an eye for detail, you’ll agree with me that this is the period when we become more organized and alert for whatever could go wrong.

This is also the time when new and better ideas pop into our heads. As good as it sounds, it’s not always helpful especially when everything has been fully coordinated already. Unless it only requires a minor change in plan and would result in a major, fabulous impact, I don’t normally entertain these ideas.

Some Wedding-Related Ideas

There was a wedding held in the restaurant where I work this morning. I was on duty so I saw everything from the table setting to the little decorations that they setup inside the ancestral house to create their desired look. I think the theme was vintage and based on what I saw, they definitely chose the perfect venue and achieved the vintage feel that they wanted.

Having been there witnessing the turn of events including the program has made me really inspired. I hope my upcoming wedding becomes just as beautiful and memorable. I also got some ideas from that particular wedding which I hope to replicate in my own wedding. Like one of the games where they gave out a new cell phone and the trivia game where some chosen guests participated.
