Home and Design Blogs

Aside from lifestyle and food blogs, reading home and design blogs never fails to make me feel good. Actually, they inspire me. Inspiration, that’s the operative word. Looking at newly made-over rooms, effortlessly beautiful spaces, pieces of furniture that were modified to create new looks for the home, DIY projects, arts and crafts, and other design inspirations gives me a high (the good kind, of course!). These blogs make me want to do exactly what they’re doing to their homes to my own home. If only my space is as lovely as theirs, or I’m as rich or as creative as they are.

But I’m not. I will have to save up money first before venturing in a home improvement project. With our finances right now, I can’t just buy new items to add to our house. You know what I just do? I make a list of the things I wanna copy or adapt from so that when the time comes that I already have the resources to use in my projects (DIY or otherwise), I can easily plan and make my move. Isn’t that smart? Haha.

Back to the Gym

After years of not going to the gym, I’m now into it again. I’m trying to lose more weight, so why not? Thrice a week ain’t bad. I mean, instead of being a couch potato after going home from work, I might as well burn some calories on the treadmill. The fact that the use of the gym is free (courtesy of the office) makes it all the more enjoyable and fuss-free.

As much as I want to spend two hours in the gym, I can only stay for an hour or when I get lucky, an hour and a half. I usually get to the gym at 6pm and the people there starts to leave just when I’m about to lift weights at 7:30. I don’t think I can work out alone, you know, what with the ghost stories I heard about the building, particularly the 4th floor where the gym is. One story even tells of a trade printer in an office running unmanned. Scary!

Moody No More

I’m one of the many women who regularly go through the difficult and insane phase called pre-menstrual syndrome (PMS). I get really irritable, stubborn and impatient whenever my period is arriving. I’m just glad the hubby is already used to this phenomenon. He becomes more patient with me and just let me be on days leading to my menstruation.

Two months after my emergency cs, I started having my period back. Somehow, I felt normal again. To be honest, a part of me wished to conceive as soon as possible but it isn’t safe and it isn’t the best thing to do. Also, getting pregnant is not on our list of priorities this 2013, paying our debts and saving up more money are.

Getting Back My Passion for Reading

Last year, as much as I wanted to read books, I have only read a few and this was mostly during my maternity leave when I got stuck at home doing nothing. I have to admit I missed reading books, the real ones, if I may add. I used to read e-books and in fact, I still do, but there’s something about real books that make them more enjoyable to read.

I dunno but recently, I’ve felt that I wanted to spend my free time (at night and during weekends) reading real books at home. I suddenly missed turning pages, staring at texts, imagining the characters in my head, and feeling the book in my hands as if it was part of my existence. I suddenly missed reading. And now, I feel like acquiring books, though not necessarily new ones because pre-owned books are just as interesting.

The District, First Ayala Mall in Cavite

Yesterday afternoon, the hubby suddenly invited me to go out. It was unusual because I was always the one dragging him to different places to unwind. Haha. Anyway, of course I said yes immediately. He was talking about an Ayala development somewhere along Aguinaldo Highway. After a 20-minute car ride, we reached The District, the first Ayala mall in Cavite.

The mall is already open to the public although most of the shops are still closed and construction is on going at one side of the complex. We saw several shops and restaurants that are already entertaining customers. They were Globe Business Center, Payless Shoe Store, People are People, Bench, Mendrez, Army Navy, Burgoo, Sumosam, Wee Nam Kee, Starbucks Coffee, Jollibee, and our favorite Manang’s Chicken. Opening soon are the popular J.Co Donuts and BonChon Chicken, among others.

Missing Binondo and Chinese Food!

Two Fridays ago, I had a fantastic Chinese lunch courtesy of our former boss (and one of my wedding godparents, too). She had some Chinese food sent over to our office all the way from a restaurant at the Makati Golf and Country Club. Ang sushal lang. Haha.

our Chinese lunch, thanks again Ms. BAA!

While enjoying the delicious Chinese food, I suddenly missed Binondo. I remembered the food trips hubby and I used to have there in the past. We’ve tried and enjoyed the food at Wai Ying Fastfood, Masuki, Estero, Dong Bei Dumpling, Sincerity Cafe, and Cafe Mezzanine. I planned for us to try more hole-in-the-wall eateries and dainty restaurants that serve authentic Chinese dishes but my previous pregnancy (and my delicate condition for that matter) prevented us from doing so.
