From 130 lbs. which is my wedding day and pre-pregnancy weight, to 167 lbs. (my biggest during pregnancy) and 147 lbs. (post-pregnancy weight), I’m now down to 122 lbs. I can’t wait to fit in my small clothes again. Soon I’ll reach my target weight of 118 lbs. and perhaps if I’ll try harder, my ideal weight of 115 (which I think suits my 5’4″ built well). It seems my “very-little-rice diet” is working for me. Haha.
There’s also something I discovered last weekend. Eating less + more movement = more burned calories. I know it’s a given. I even read about it from a fitness book before. It’s something you and I already know. But let me tell you that it becomes more real when you actually see the results.
You see, I have not done any serious exercise in the past weeks (well, aside from some walking with the husband at night). I’d just eat less and let the scale judge me. From what I read, losing weight without doing any exercise has an end. Soon your body will protect itself from the weight loss and keep the fats from being burned easily. Your body will slow your metabolism despite the regular small amount of food being consumed. Moving more is your solution to that. By moving more, you get to burn more calories, too. And if you keep moving more than you used to, your body doesn’t have a choice but to melt the fats away.
By moving more, I meant doing household chores. This is what I’ve been doing the past weekends. I used to just cook food and do a little cleaning of our tiny house. Now I cook food and bake, too. Now I clean the house longer and fix small stuff that need fixing. I don’t know if I can do this for long because I know myself to be inherently lazy, but so far, I’m enjoying it and I’m happy with how it helps me lose weight for good.
But then, the Christmas season is here. I don’t think I can reach my target weight by the end of the year because of all the eating sprees (hello Christmas parties, Noche Buena and Media Noche!). I guess I’ll just give my body a rest for now and enjoy all the glorious food that’ll come my way this holiday season. On the first quarter of 2014, that target weight is gonna be achieved. Yes, I’m claiming it already! 🙂
Wow! Congrats, yakang-yaka mo na yang 4 lbs. Less rice diet talaga is proven more effective.
Thanks, Ella! Medyo kinakabahan nga ako baka bumalik kasi mag-Christmas at New Year. Eh balak ko pa naman kumain ng madaming-madami. Hahaha. 🙂
