Weekend Story: Post-Valentine Celebration with Family

Last weekend turned out to be hectic but memorable and fun. It was the Valentine’s weekend that people were looking forward to, after all. And speaking of that, how did your celebration go? *insert a sugary sweet smile here*

Just like in the past years, I had work on Valentine’s Day which fell on a Saturday. La Cocina de Tita Moning was full house and if I remember it correctly, we had a total of 30 groups as guests. There were two groups that cancelled their reservations, though, either due to heavy traffic or some kind of an emergency. We were able to close the restaurant at almost 12 midnight already.

The hubby and I, along with my brother Danison, drove home in Bacoor after my duty at the restaurant. We reached home at past 1:00 a.m. Yes, we traveled in the wee hours of the morning because we had to meet up with my parents later that day. They were in Naic because mom had a 2-day stint at his friend and my officemate Kuya Nick’s flower shop as a sales assistant. It’s been her raket for the past few years and she enjoys doing it every time so we let her be. I remember she treated me to a pair of shoes using her earnings last year which I documented in my February 2014 shopping fast report.

With my parents and brother in tow, the hubby and I traveled to Sta. Rosa City for our post-Valentine celebration. Just like last year, our post-Valentine date was with my parents.

my love idols!

This time around, the addition was my brother who is currently “single but ready to mingle.” Haha. Kidding aside, he joined us because he wanted to buy new shoes from one of the many outlet shops at Paseo de Sta. Rosa. And he did get a new pair of shoes from the Nike outlet shop there. Even the hubby was able to score a pair for my FIL from Adidas.

We had lunch at Buffalo’s Wings N’ Things that also happens to serve food from the menu of Chubby’s Rib Shack. So, we ordered food from both. The restaurant is located at Solenad 2, just across the Robinsons Supermarket there.

While the hubby and Mame got plated meals (fried chicken and pork chops, respectively), my father, my brother and I settled for their famous wings. We got two flavors: garlic parmesan and honey BBQ. Between the two, we found the latter more superior in taste and complemented the NY dirty rice (that we paired the wings with) better. It had a good balance of acidity, sweetness and smokiness that we loved. No dip needed!

Honey BBQ wings FTW!

If the boys got new shoes, the girls got new clothes. Mame was feeling generous that day (actually, she’s really very generous when she has spare money!) and treated me to a black, casual dress. I can see myself wearing it with my half-knee boots. One weekend, I guess.

Since we were already in the area, my parents requested that we pay a visit to Tita Miyang, my dad’s sister who lives in BiΓ±an. The hubby and I said yes. Tita Miyang happily welcomed us into her home. We brought a mocha cake roll from Goldilocks and a bottle of soda for our merienda. After several minutes of chikahan, it was time to go back to Manila. But not before taking some group photos for Mame’s FB uploads. Haha.

We reached home at past 7:00 p.m. Traffic was suprisingly light on SLEX. After having a light dinner courtesy of my FIL’s cooking, the hubby and I went to bed early.

That ends my weekend story. What’s yours? πŸ™‚

May you choose happiness always,
