Weekend Story: Wedding in Batangas + Typical Sunday in Manila

Last weekend was special. The hubby and I may have not been able to go home in Bacoor but we had a happy and relaxing time in Manila with my in-laws. I, for one, had the chance to witness one of the simplest yet most intimate weddings, ever.

On Saturday, I traveled all the way to Lipa City in Batangas to attend my officemate and dear friend Gerlie’s wedding. (She finally married her childhood sweetheart after a decade of being in a relationship.) The wedding ceremony was held at St. Therese of the Child Jesus Parish and the reception followed at the main hall of Mt. Malarayat Golf and Country Club. The hubby wasn’t able to join me because he was still recovering from flu then. (He’s okay now, thank God!)

It was a lovely and fun wedding. The bride was glowing and the groom was ecstatic. You could really feel the love and joy in the air. It was one of the few weddings I’ve been to that was light and short and sweet, all at the same time.

Before going to the church, we dropped by SM Lipa to shop for wedding gifts. Most of us got home and kitchen items. We were pressed for time so we shopped as fast as we could. I regretted it a bit because I remembered landing on the pages of Savingmart.ph last week. It’s a website where one can get huge discounts and timely sales updates from popular online shopping sites such as Zalora, Lazada PH, Hallo Hallo Mall, and Ebay, among others. Next time, I guess.

The wedding ceremony was scheduled at 1PM so my officemates and I opted to have lunch first before going to the church. We chanced upon this roadside eatery that serves Batangas lomi. It was my first time to try one. It didn’t have veggies (like the ones I’m used to eating) but it was surprisingly yummy and filling. And for just P40 a bowl, saan ka pa?

Batangas Lomi FTW

Our Sunday was spent at my in-laws’ place. The hubby and I didn’t go out of the house except for when we heard the morning mass and ate breakfast at the nearest McDonald’s.

Have you guys tried McDonald’s Apple Pie Ala Mode already? It was my dessert that morning and it was good pala. (First time ko ulit, haha.) It was cloyingly sweet with all the caramel and cinnamon syrup, yes, but the apple pie itself was nice. And for just P45, not bad at all!

It rained in the afternoon and the sudden drop in temperature prompted us to get some sleep. We ended the day on a happy note after watching some TV together with my in-laws in the living room.

And you, where and how did you spend your weekend? 🙂

May you choose happiness always,

    1. Thank you, sis! 🙂

  1. Not a fan of lomi but my partner would really enjoy that, I bet. Gossh! =)

Ganda ng ootd mo Edel!! =) Suits your personality well.

    1. Haha, I can imagine sobrang mahirap maging picky eater.

Thank you, Jen! Now I’m thinking of giving it to my mom, gusto nya yang mga ganyang dress na effortless at tago ang tiyan eh, hehe. 🙂

  2. Your outfit is the perfect balance of a relaxed yet chic and sophisticated getup. Winner, sis! 🙂 Kasing winner ng Batangas lomi! Hihi!

    1. Thank you, sis! Perfect yang dress na yan for that purpose. Haha. 🙂

  3. Nice outfit 🙂

Mcdo’s Apple Pie ala Mode? Hindi ko pa din na try kasi sa sobrang daming tao sa Mcdo palagi, we always end up buying take out or deliver.

Siguro I will try that soon 🙂

    1. Thanks, Rachiel! Yes, sometimes it’s better to dial their hotline and order away. 🙂

    1. Korek, sarap umattend ng weddings talaga. So much love and joy around. 🙂

  4. Your OOTD was definitely on point. I’m currently planning my wedding right now and I stumbled on your site. Thanks for sharing the church and reception! I’ll add them in the list of places to check out!
