Weekend Story: MIAS 2016 + Biking in Alabang + Decluttering at Home

As the title suggests, those three things were the highlights of last weekend for the hubby and me. They got us preoccupied and happy and before we knew it, the weekend was over and a new work week has arrived.

MIAS 2016

The hubby is fascinated with cars. Well, actually, most men are. He didn’t wanna miss the Manila International Auto Show happening from April 7-10, 2016 at the World Trade Center so he planned our Saturday well and included going there in it. While I am a supportive wife, I also try to negotiate for my personal gain. This time, it was a dinner at the resto of my choosing and a couple of minutes of (window) shopping at the nearby Mall of Asia (MOA). So, we had a deal and we were both happy. Haha.

Anyway, we saw a lot of nice cars and cute girls (who stand alongside them) at the show. The hubby also took tons of photos.

We spent a few hours at the venue then drove to MOA to eat and shop before going home and calling it a night.

dimsum
Super Bowl of China’s Dimsum Combination Platter

Side Comment: I realized it’s more economical to order a dimsum combination platter (PHP320 in this case) instead of getting various dimsums (that come at PHP130-PHP160 per order). Not only do you get to taste different dimsums and share everything with your eating companion(s), but you also get to pay less for it.

Biking in Alabang

On Sunday, we woke up early to bike in Alabang with my officemate Kuya Richard and his guy friend. The hubby, along with our two companions, checked out the biking trails at Filinvest.

While they were on it, I biked on the streets that were closed to traffic during weekends. There were many runners, zumba-ers, and fellow bikers sweating and having fun under the sun so I made sure to get my fix, too.

After we were done biking, we had breakfast at Jollibee and chatted for several minutes before parting ways.

Decluttering at Home

We were supposed to go back to Manila on Sunday night so from Alabang, we did some chores, had lunch, and did some more chores. I, for instance, had a closet inspection and did some decluttering. The hubby and I share a decent-sized closet in our Bacoor home. (In Manila, we also share a tiny cabinet filled mostly with house clothes.) His clothes are tucked away in the upper part of it while mine occupy the middle and lower portions.

While choosing which clothes to dispose and give away, the words of Francine Jay (author of the book The Joy of Less which I was reading last Holy Week break) were ringing in my head and serving as a great motivation to me as I tried hard to dispose and give away more clothes. A place for everything and everything in its place. The one in, one out rule. Keep only those that make you happy.

At the end of my decluttering, our closet looked leaner and I was able to separate two bagful of clothes from it! What an achievement! I was ecstatic. But just so you know, I didn’t touch any of the hubby’s clothes. It’s just my clothes so I could have absolute freedom on what to do with them.

By 9PM, we were already in Manila catching up with our family (as if we had been gone for too long, haha).

How was your weekend, pals? Kwentuhan nyo naman ako! 🙂

May you choose happiness always,

  1. I did the decluttering of clothes last year and until now hindi ko pa din alam kung san ko ilalagay. Hindi ako makapagset up ng garage sale or donation na lang sana.

  2. We went to an Auto Show a couple of years ago.
Flattering sobra sis.
And lastly, I KONMARI my closet also a couple of months back. Ang saya saya!!!! I gave away lots of clothes. And my closet is much more organized and clutter free na. I only kept those I really use. Those “nice to haves” and “wish it still fits me” went straight to the “for giving away” bag. 🙂

    1. Haha, para kang si hubby, mas tinutukan nya ang mga bikes kesa cars this time dahil into biking sya these days. Hehe. Korek ka dyan, sis, ang saya saya talaga after magdeclutter. Tapos tiyak may mapapasaya pa tayo sa mga clothes na ipapamigay natin, worth it talaga. 🙂

  3. Nakaka-high mag declutter at mag-organize no? 😉 Especially when the “change” is so dramatic. A few weeks ago, books, magazines and gadgets in-edit ko. Was able to dispose off 3 boxes. Very cathartic! 🙂

As for my closet, I need a wardrobe update first before I start purging. Baka wala na akong maisuot kung I-KonMari ko sila, since very few of my clothes “spark joy.”

    1. Cathartic, indeed!

  4. Sis! I hastily clicked your blog from my blogroll! I thought I read BIKINI in Alabang! =)) Not enough sleep!!!

I decluttered when I got pregnant. We moved to our own house so I got the chance to sort the clothes that I could still wear. I gave away most of my clothes because I thought they would no longer fit me. E mas pumayat pa ako after ko manganak. Chos! :p

    1. Hahahahaha, lakas ng tawa ko! Re: not enough sleep, mommy ka na talaga! 🙂

  5. Hi Edel! I just started to read the ebook you sent me hehe! Maraming salamat ulit! Ang saya tignan ng closet mo 🙂 My mom gave my clothes to my younger cousins and nieces.

    1. Thank you, Jackie! 🙂

  6. I love your pic with your bike buddies. Ganda ng angle at positioning nyo 🙂 I’ve been to the first MIA .. years ago with my Graduate School classmates. Suddenly, na senti ako. It has been years since I last saw them. Kanya kanyang buhay na 🙂

Yes for decluttering. At for the first time, nakakita ako ng hindi obsessed sa wooden hanger hahaha Sorry no offense meant to others…feeling ko kasi talaga medyo hassle ang wooden hangers since most of the time eh they are thick and occupy so much space.

Kelangan makabalik ako sa La Cocina…haven’t made a decent post about… #alamMoNa hahahaha

    1. Salamat, Diane!

  7. I’ve been reading your blog for a long time and really enjoy your stories about your day to day life, and your weekend activities. It’s so simple but at the same time I know you and your husband love what you do and enjoy being together. Share ka lang ng share ha!

    1. Hi Anna! Thank you for the kind words. You just made my day. These days, puro weekend stories na lang ang nashe-share ko unlike before, may in-between posts ako. Busy-busyhan, haha. But yes, I will continue sharing about my life and knowing other people also through their blogs. 🙂

P.S. Are you the Anna of Blue Law by Anna blog? 🙂
