Review: Rebecca Minkoff Love Crossbody Bag

Have you heard about the term push gift? It is a present a woman receives after giving birth to her baby. Personally, I learned about it when I got pregnant for the first time back in 2012. I never got around to getting one at that time, though, because it was a sad event for us having lost Pippo, our little angel. But this time around with baby NJ, the hubby made sure I got my push gift or should I say, cut gift? (I gave birth via caesarian section, after all.) It came in the form of a bag that I’ve been meaning to get for myself for so long — Rebecca Minkoff Love Crossbody Bag. It’s an affordable designer bag (under 200 USD) that’s for keeps.

Rebecca Minkoff’s love crossbody bag is made of genuine leather and has a chain strap. It can be worn in a number of ways and can even be used as a clutch. It’s a beautifully structured bag, classy and edgy at the same time. It looks like Chanel’s boy flap bag from a distance but if you’d look at it closely, you’ll see that they are two different bags, structure- and price-wise, haha. It may not be as expensive- and elegant-looking as the famous Chanel bag but it has its own charm. It is also of great quality and gives good value to a bag lover’s money. I don’t plan on splurging on a Chanel bag anytime soon (not that I can readily afford one!). I’d rather save up my money for my child’s education a few years from now. So yeah, this one’s good enough for this momma.

isn’t she lovely?

The first time I used this bag was during baby NJ’s christening. I wore it like a shoulder bag because it was more convenient that way as I was carrying our daughter alternately with the hubby. The bag is not lightweight but it’s not heavy, either. The size is just right for me. Well, I intentionally didn’t put a lot of stuff in my bag that time and I don’t plan on filling it with more contents when I use it again. I’d say it’s decent enough to take to both daytime and evening parties as it’s quite formal-looking (and it’s black, you see). But you know, I think it’s also versatile and can be brought just about anywhere!

Choosing between the quilted love bag and the equally gorgeous chevron quilted love bag (google it if your curious!) by Rebecca Minkoff, I went with the former because I liked its look better and it was hard to come by (unlike the latter that’s still being sold on Rebecca Minkoff’s website and a lot of other popular shopping sites). I actually got the bag on Ebay US. It was then being sold as “brand new with tags.” It was the only one that was brand new at that time, the rest was preloved. I received the bag after two weeks and fell in love with it the moment I laid my eyes on it. I have been embracing the principle of having few, better things, and in the case of my bags, this new addition to my modest collection definitely fits the bill. 😉

Do you also own a Rebecca Minkoff bag? What is it and what made you buy it? 🙂

May you choose happiness always,
