Weight Lost is Weight Gained

What I lose is what I gain. Yes, you read that right. I’m talking about my weight. I’m really having a hard time losing the pounds I gained when I was pregnant. I blame it to the lack of discipline on my part.

From 167 lbs., I now weigh 137. I lost the 30 pounds during my maternity leave and it was a breeze for me. When I got back to work, my appetite got back as well. And in full swing, mind you. It doesn’t help that this is the Christmas season, what with the many food gifts I have been receiving and enjoying in the past weeks.

Christmas Raffle

Christmas or not, I’m not really lucky when it comes to raffle draws. I’d win in a parlor game or some random contest but not in a raffle draw. My raffle winnings are few and far between. I don’t even remember them anymore.

Christmas parties, or any party for that matter, usually have raffle draws to infuse fun and excitement to the event. Raffle draws, especially when expensive items are at stake, make the crowd alert and happy. Actually, even if you’re raffling off some cheap plus size prom dresses, I bet people would be too thrilled to win them.

Red Velvet Cakes and Cupcakes

I love red velvet cakes and cupcakes. I guess it’s the red velvet color, the hint of chocolate, the cream cheese icing, the not-too-sweet taste. Okay, make it everything about them. I even looked for a good red velvet cake recipe online so I could bake some in the future.

Cukay’s red velvet cupcake is love!

I remember the first time I tasted a red velvet cake was in the office. Our boss brought some for us to share. One bite and I got hooked. That’s why whenever I’d go to a café or a food bazaar now (hello Mercato and Soderno!), I always look for it. I’m just not sure if S&R has it because I’ve seen muffins there in our last visit.

Food as Christmas Gift

It’s not everyday that we are gifted with food and more food. This usually happens during the Christmas season when people give food as presents to their friends. Binge eating during Christmas becomes more tempting with the many food choices we get as presents.

This is especially true in our office where food gifts come aplenty. They are mostly in bread and pastry forms. Even the food gifts received by our boss she happily shares with us. Opening these presents never fails to put big smiles on my face and those of my officemates. Good thing our boys have a heavy duty cutter (that looks like a Martor USA box cutter!) on stand by which makes opening a lot easier. Haha.

Dressing Up for Work

Dressing up is fun, especially when you’re a girl. While I’m a self-proclaimed, low-maintenance gal, I also enjoy dressing up once in a while. In fact, one of the goals I set this year is to dress properly at work. You know, taking the corporate attire thing seriously even if I’m just working in a government office.

Dressing up for work (or otherwise) is more fun if your wardrobe is always updated. Regular shopping for new clothes is good, but only if you can afford it. Sometimes, all you need is some creativity and imagination. You can actually mix and match clothes without looking cheap and unsophisticated. You can use up old clothes and make them look brand new to the eyes of your workmates. Add some nice accessories to your outfit, for instance. It’s a sure way to glam up your office attire.

To remind myself to dress up more often, you might just see outfit posts here in the coming days!

9th Month

I just realized I wasn’t able to write our 8th and 9th monthsary posts. I was on a two-month maternity leave then and recovering from both physical and emotional pain. I had my reasons not to blog and so I didn’t.

Our 9th month as husband and wife remains as steady as ever. I don’t wanna measure our happiness at this point because we are still grieving. But I must tell you we are grateful to God for all the blessings He continues to shower upon us despite of and in spite of. I can tell from our married life today that we are recovering well from the tragedy of losing our first born. The love and support of our families and friends aside, this won’t be possible for us without the help of each other.
