The Bridal Shower

Last Friday night was a blast. I had my bridal shower in our future house in Bacoor and it was attended by my close friends. We were supposed to hold it in a condotel somewhere in Quezon City but the organizer (my Superfriend Nice) and I had a change of plan a few days before. It was the best decision ever because it turned out to be double the fun.

We ate and drunk and played some parlor games. I also treated my guests to a relaxing massage courtesy of our fave masseuse. While most of my guests went home after the party, around five people stayed and slept over. The next day, it was “chikahan galore” over breakfast and eventually, over light snacks.

My Best Friend is Now a Lawyer!

When the results of the 2011 Philippine Bar Examinations were released yesterday afternoon, I was one of the thousands, if not millions, of people who were very anxious about it. Why not if your best friend is one of the hopefuls whose lives are about to change either for the better or for worse? So, wait I did and boy, was I in for a big surprise! My best friend passed the bar exams and is now a proud lawyer!

I am very happy for and proud of my best friend Leah Abello de Guzman. Her sacrifices and hard work definitely paid off. I’m sure her family, especially her parents, are very happy for and proud of her as well. And I bet there’s gonna be a big celebration, too! I wish I could be part of it, but she’s in the province and I’m here in the city. Bummer.

The 18-Day Challenge

This is a personal challenge that I have thrown at myself this morning. For 18 days leading to my big day, I am to monitor my food intake (making sure that I eat lesser than usual) so I could fit in my wedding gown have a more decent and desirable figure on my big day. Haha.

So yeah, starting today February 28 up to March 16, 2012, I am gonna be conscious of what I eat. I’ll also try to cut back on carbohydrates which are the building blocks of those excess and unwanted pounds. This challenge is more of a test of my self-control and though I’m not expecting too much, I will still give it my best.

Wedding Guest List

If you’ll ask me what’s the hardest part of wedding planning, I’d say it’s finalizing the guest list. That is more true if you are the type of couple with lots and lots of friends. I guess the key here is balance. You have to know if you could accommodate them all or just a handful of them by looking at your resources.

In our case, the determining factor is the venue’s capacity. You see, we only had a particular number of guests in mind and we booked the venue as soon as we could. Our problem now lies in filling that particular number of people with names. Names of our guests, that is. And that’s when putting names in the guest list comes rolling.

My Binondo Food Trips

Binondo, the oldest Chinatown established in Asia (outside of China, of course) is home to many Chinese tea houses that serve authentic Chinese fares at affordable prices. I’m not saying it only has that because it definitely has more than that. It’s like a time machine that transports people to the olden days when Chinese migrants first settled here in Manila to earn a living and influence the Filipino way of life in more ways than one. But I digress.

As a big fan of Chinese food, I only got to explore Binondo restaurants fairly recently. But more than anything, I think it gives me an advantage because I got introduced to Binondo and its culinary treasures at a time when I’m already earning money. You see, if I didn’t have purchasing power yet, how would I be able to enjoy the delicious Chinese food in Binondo? Haha.

I Need a Wedding Checklist

It looks like I really need my own wedding checklist as my big day comes closer and closer. You know the feeling when you’re overly excited and at the same time you’re having big expectations and only giving yourself very little room for error? That’s what I’m feeling exactly right now. I feel like I’m about to do something big and yet my heart is beating louder and louder due to anxiety and nervousness. Not a nice, great feeling, I tell you. But it’s there, and I can’t help it.

That’s why a wedding checklist has to be made. It will contain all the things that the fiancĂ© and I need to accomplish. I’m just glad and thankful that so far, everything’s been doing good. We just need to make some confirmations and follow-ups and we will be okay. At least, that’s how I see it.
