Weekend Story: Lots of Rest and Quiet Time

Weekends are full of surprises. This is especially true if it’s a long weekend. The hubby and I were already in Bacoor as early as Thursday night. Of course, we were excited over this 3-day break! Despite the continued heavy rains coupled with strong winds, the hubby and I were able to go out to do some errands, work on his thesis, and visit the wake of a friend’s mother.

On Thursday night, I made some ice cream using ripe avocados from my FIL’s own tree. It turned out to be so good for a dessert/snack that leaving some for our family in Manila was a hard thing to do. (Don’t worry, we ended up leaving some for them in the name of love.) Haha.

Weekend Story: Prism Plaza + Starmall Prima Bacoor

Last weekend was all about pasyal.

Well, we did stay at home but went out both days (Saturday and Sunday). While I try to stay at home one whole day (normally Sunday) during weekends, things don’t go my way every time. Sometimes, the hubby makes lambing and asks me to go out. He’d usually say it’s going to be his treat so I wouldn’t have a reason to say no. Bakit naman ako tatanggi sa libre, diba? Basta hindi magagalaw ang weekend budget ko, tara, let’s go! Haha.

Cooking with Edel: Pumpkin Soup

I love thick soups. The creamier, the better. This soup was inspired by this restaurant‘s version. I didn’t follow any recipe; I just trusted my imagination and my memory of the soup’s exact taste when I had a chance to try it. Fortunately, it turned out better than I expected when I cooked it last weekend. Sulit ang pagod ko!

Here’s the recipe based on how I remembered making it:

Weekend Story: Staycation + Husband and Wife Duties

Last weekend was all about staying home and division of labor. (I call it husband and wife duties.) We just made the most of our time (like we always do) and enjoyed our humble abode in the suburbs.

On Saturday, I went to SM Manila and tagged Mame along. I just needed to finish some errands and when I was done, I took Mame to Jollibee where we shared some langhap sarap moments. I really make it a point to date my mom whenever my schedule permits. Inspired by Brother Bo Sanchez, one of my dreams is to date my parents weekly. One day, it will come true!

On Paying Off Cash Loans

Today is a happy day. It’s pay day and I expect to see a slight increase in my weekly salary because my last month’s pay slip says I’ve already finished paying one of my three cash loans at work. (It’s through salary deduction so I just have to look at my pay slip to check on their status.) The remaining two cash loans will be fully settled by September so that when October arrives (which is actually my birth month!), I could expect more money to finance my birthday party. Haha.

Now, why am I writing about this? Because I waited for this day to come. That one by one, the hubby’s and my loans will be fully paid and we could have more funds to add to our emergency and retirement funds. Our financial goals are as clear as water and our determination remains strong. We just have to stick to our plan and we’re good.

Frugal Find: Php200 Sale Items from H&M

If there’s an H&M branch that I love visiting, it’s the one at Robinsons Magnolia. Why? Because I always see sale items there at low prices. How low? About Php200 low. Take a look at the top and the shoes I bought there both priced at just Php200 (or almost US$2).

This pair of shoes (are they what you call casual loafers?) screams summer. I liked the orange-y color and the embroidered details plus they were in my size so I got them! (The other sizes were still sold at their regular prices.)
