Weekend Story: At Home in Manila

The hubby and I have been missing our Bacoor home already. It’s been weeks that we haven’t visited it. I don’t know if the few plants in our plant box are still alive or not. I don’t know how our lone Malunggay tree is coping to the “dry” situation (though I have a feeling it will continue to thrive).

On a related note, our office clothes are of the same set. We just wash them during weekends for use in the next work week. Sorry, TMI. I don’t know if my officemates are already noticing my clothes, but what the heck. Haha. The good news is, we are going home tonight. Wohoo!

Dealing with Windfalls

This year is getting to be very good in terms of financial blessings. The first quarter alone saw the hubby and I receiving some unexpected incentives at work. Then, during the second quarter, our mid-year bonus arrived and a few more monetary benefits came after that.

Receiving windfalls (in our case, it’s usually from work and nothing else) is always a pleasure and a reason to give thanks. By giving thanks, I mean saying a short prayer of gratitude to the guy above and sharing the blessing (in whatever form or way we like) with our loved ones.

Weekend Story: Wedding in Batangas + Typical Sunday in Manila

Last weekend was special. The hubby and I may have not been able to go home in Bacoor but we had a happy and relaxing time in Manila with my in-laws. I, for one, had the chance to witness one of the simplest yet most intimate weddings, ever.

On Saturday, I traveled all the way to Lipa City in Batangas to attend my officemate and dear friend Gerlie’s wedding. (She finally married her childhood sweetheart after a decade of being in a relationship.) The wedding ceremony was held at St. Therese of the Child Jesus Parish and the reception followed at the main hall of Mt. Malarayat Golf and Country Club. The hubby wasn’t able to join me because he was still recovering from flu then. (He’s okay now, thank God!)

Of Weddings and Pregnancies

Weddings and pregnancies are happy events that we welcome into our lives with open arms and grateful hearts. I have friends who are getting married soon (in fact, one of them is tying the knot tomorrow!) and I have friends who have gotten pregnant recently. To feel happy for them is just but natural to me.

I can still vividly remember our wedding day. It wasn’t perfect but it was the best for us. There were some minor problems but most of the guests, and even the hubby and I, didn’t notice it until somebody told us about it after the reception had ended. We would have wanted also to modify some details of the wedding but later on we realized it’s better left as unique and lovely as it was.

Weekend Story: A Baguio Holiday

After several years, the hubby and I have finally gone back to Baguio. This time around, my sister Jodie tagged along with us. It was her first time to visit Baguio and it seemed she had a blast even if it was just an overnight trip. Availing a vacation package from Edel’s Travel & Tours (this was our joke the entire time we were in Baguio!), she enjoyed the City of Pines by checking out as much tourist spots as our time and energy could handle.

We stayed at Baguio Holiday Villas (BHV) on Legarda Road. It’s been our hotel of choice ever since the hubby and I first visited Baguio as a couple several years ago. We just love it there! The cozy vibe, the lush gardens in front of the villas, the very good service, the location, the low rates, the cleanliness, and a few more things. In short, we highly recommend it. Haha.

Frugal Find: H&M Basic Cardigans

When H&M opened stores here in Manila, I initially didn’t mind it. I thought it was just another sushal brand that I won’t be able to afford. I was wrong. Just like Uniqlo, it sells high-quality yet reasonably-priced clothes pala.

Have you seen their home items? Ang gaganda, grabe! But I’m not sharing about those and instead, the two basic cardigans I bought from H&M – Robinsons Manila a couple of weeks ago. Priced at P599 per piece, these cardigans are dainty! Touching one for the very first time, I could tell the fabric was of high quality. Even the stitches were perfectly aligned.
