Holy Week 2014

We had a simple but fun and meaningful Holy Week break. The hubby and I were joined by my two siblings Jodie and Son at home in Bacoor. But we went to Cavite only after we finished the traditional Visita Iglesia in Manila. We visited a total of seven churches, as usual.

On Good Friday, we just stayed at home the entire morning and early afternoon. I baked a chocolate cake out of boredom and it turned out so good. We ate it after every meal until the very last slice was eaten up.

The Last Graduate

The last remaining student in the family will be graduating soon. It’s on May 13th, to be exact. The entire family is beaming with pride. Indeed, we are proud of Jodie, our bunso who is graduating with a degree in Bachelor in Banking and Finance from a state university. We’re also glad that all four of us siblings in the family have already finished college. Our parents have finally fulfilled their dream of giving us the best gift they could give us — education.

Anyway, Jodie’s journey to graduation wasn’t an easy one. For one, she was a working student (though it wasn’t forced on her). She really made use of her time wisely so she could earn money while studying. Her patience and faith were also tested during her final semester where she had to complete her graduation requirements before getting into the list of candidates for graduation. She was lacking her form 137-a, of all documents! I didn’t know what happened there but it must be the result of some kind of negligence from either the university, the high school or my sister herself.

Short Hair for Summer

I had my hair cut last Saturday. I found it quite a challenge to wear my hair long in this kind of heat so I chose a short hair style for myself. It was a good decision. Now I feel better than ever. Haha.

Volume kung volume, diba? I plan to get a rebond or a straightening treatment (as my past rebond treatments didn’t have a lasting impact on my hair) soon so pardon the waves for now. Actually, a friend said bagay naman the waves. Let’s see if my mind will change because of that compliment.

Weekend Adventure

Last weekend, the hubby and I, along with my brother, traveled to Porac, Pampanga to check-out The Sandbox. It’s an outdoor adventure park, the first of many attractions in Alviera, a township development in Porac, Pampanga by no less than the Ayala Land group. It was a sort of “preview” of the place and its offerings before it officially opens to the public this coming April 12th.

Of course, we had so much fun! I, for instance, got to try two rides there: the Giant Swing and the UTV. I truly enjoyed both. Overall, it was a great outdoor experience that let us have fun and adventure while still communing with nature. The place is definitely far from where we live but going there just to try it wasn’t a bad idea at all.

That Perfect Summer Getaway

I used to document my summer getaways (I called it “summer adventures” then) through posts in my old blog. They used to be plenty and memorable and fun. As I’ve aged, they became fewer and fewer and I didn’t know why. It must be because I’ve become busier than ever. It must be due to the fact that I’m now not as adventurous as before.

But still, I continue to want to have my dose of summer getaways. I guess summer has that effect on people. It makes us feel vibrant and adventurous and young. It makes us push for fun activities that would enable us to see new places and meet new people. It makes us long for the outdoors and for us Pinoys, the three top things associated with the season: sun, sand and sea.

Shopping Fast: March Report

Note: I started my self-imposed shopping ban on January 1, 2014. I made it official online through this post, and called it a “shopping fast.” I also shared there the reasons why I took the challenge and laid down some rules to guide me while on it.

Shopping Fast: January Report
Shopping Fast: February Report

March has arrived and left swiftly. I’m giddy to tell you that I succeeded in making the whole month shopping-free. I think I deserve a pat on the back. Haha.

But just like in February, I did receive some new stuff. Only two items, though. One is a clutch (given to me as pasalubong by my boss when she travelled to Hong Kong) and the other is a skirt (given to me by my very generous and thoughtful MIL).
