Loving Milka Choco-Swing Biscuit

I’m not really a chocoholic but I know when to appreciate good chocolates. Our boss just came back from Singapore and she was nice enough to give us Milka Choco-Swing Biscuit as pasalubong. One bite and I was hooked. The combination of high quality milk chocolate, confectioner cream, and crunchy biscuits was a winner in my book.

It was my first time to try this brand and I didn’t know if it was available locally. After a little research, I found out that it’s a Swiss chocolate made from pure Alpine milk. It’s also one of the leading chocolate brands in Europe (it’s birth year is 1901!) and is produced by Kraft Foods today. It’s no wonder it tastes a lot like Cadbury. Even the packaging is quite similar as you can see in the color. What distinguishes it though is the unique lilac-colored cow.

Coffee or Tea?

I always choose tea. If I’m craving for iced coffee with lots of milk, then that’s the only time I prefer having coffee over tea. I dunno but unlike many people I know who can’t live without getting their caffeine fix on a daily basis, I can survive days and weeks and years without coffee.

It must be because I did not grow up drinking coffee. It’s funny because both of my parents did. Until now, their mornings and afternoons aren’t complete without coffee. Even my brother has shared this coffee addiction during his college years. I remember he would drink gallons of coffee when he was still working on their group thesis. He was thin then and his face was pimply because of stress and lack of sleep. It was a good thing he found some miracle acne soap to clear his acne-infested face before it was too late. But I digress.

My New Yogurt Fave

I have always been a yogurt lover. I eat any edible stuff with yogurt in it. While my fave is still the frozen yogurt sold in yogurt shops, sometimes I get to have the ones produced by Nestle and I enjoy them, too. In fact, my latest addiction is Nestle’s Fruit Selection Yogurt in Lychee Almond Nata flavor. I’ve been buying it from the supermarket since last week and I couldn’t seem to stop. I used to buy just two cups but now, I wanna get a dozen already!

My new yogurt fave from Nestle is tangy, creamy, sweet and juicy all at the same time. The lychee gives a clean taste to the mouth while the nata de coco bits add flavor and texture to the yogurt. I love, love this snack! Each cup costs P23.50 and has up to 1.25 billion live microorganisms that “keep my tummy happy.” Haha.

For the Love of Fast Food

Whenever the fiancee and I hit the mall, we almost always choose to eat fast food. Some of our favorites are KFC, Wendy’s, McDonalds, Pao Tsin, Tokyo Tokyo and of course, the langhap-sarap goodness that is Jollibee. My love affair with fast food started in college. It was during my college years that my appetite for fast food had developed and grown to its present proportion. It also helped that I was once a fast food crew myself, juggling work and school to get college education and have a better life.

Back then, my meager college allowance was spent mostly on fast food. Why not if it was cheap, tasty and served fast to the hungry me? Funny but when I was a college student, I could see the fast food counter filled with smiling crew manning chunky POS hardware from a hundred steps away once I was inside the mall with my blockmates. I guess it was the very attitude of these people (who are actually working students!) and the mouth-watering food photos on display that never failed to convince me to dine in. I didn’t care if fast food were filled with empty calories or that they could make me fatter than ever, all I needed then was to fill my empty stomach and survive college life.

Heavy Breakfast Ideas

As part of my serious efforts to lose weight, I have decided to eat heavy breakfast every morning. It’s been four days and I’m slowly getting used to the practice. My mom has been very cooperative in this. She happily prepares my “baon” and make sure I don’t forget taking them to the office for consumption. I so love her!

What do I usually have for breakfast? I’m not a picky eater so anything would do so long as it’s edible. I don’t even mind eating leftover food! My breakfasts in the past four days were mostly rice-viand combos. Whatever is left of last night’s dinner my mom would keep in the refrigerator for reheating the next day. That becomes my breakfast. I seldom eat dinner in the house because it’s either I eat at the fiancee’s place or eat out in the mall.

On Food and Food Trips

If there’s one thing I love doing the most aside from sleeping, that would be eating. I find joy in eating. I find pleasure in the company of food. I get a sense of freedom just by tasting various dishes. I remember I used to eat a lot when I was growing up. Now that I’m a grown up, I know I can’t eat a lot anymore. My metabolism is slower now which means I gain pounds easily. But that doesn’t stop me from appreciating good food, whether using my own money or thru food treats I get from friends every now and then.

You can say that I also love food trips, too. Travel plus food equals happiness in my book. When I say food trip, the food doesn’t have to be expensive and the trip doesn’t have to be far, either. It could be anywhere, so long as my feet and my tummy can take me there. My two recent memorable food trips (King Chef Fine Dining and Casa Roces), for instance, took place in the metro. When it comes to good food, I’m always ready to go.
