Quiet Weekend

It’s not every time that we get to experience a quiet weekend. You know, a weekend where there’s very little or zero happenings. Last weekend was a perfect example of a quiet weekend for us. The hubby and I just stayed home doing household chores together and taking our much-needed rest after. That kind of stuff.

Except for our quick trip to SM Bacoor to replenish our pantry supplies, we just spent a quiet weekend at home. It was scorching hot outside so we just watched a lot of TV, played a lot of games, ate a lot of food, and cuddled and kissed each other like there’s no tomorrow (okay, that’s exaggerated).

Pasta Craving on a Weekend

These days, weekends are the only time I get to experiment in the kitchen. Like yesterday when I whipped up a simple sardine pasta recipe.

This dish was inspired by my brother. It’s his favorite. I suddenly remembered him and thought about this pasta dish. I checked our pantry for ingredients and when I found what I needed, I started cooking immediately.

Weekend Highlights

Last weekend was a blast. I hope all weekends are like that. So light and fun and happy. All of the things I did was enjoyable and I even got to spend some quality bonding time with my family and the hubby.

On Saturday, I went shopping at my fave department store with my mom and my sister. Landmark Makati never fails to amaze me with its dirt-cheap clothes. Their accessories and bazaar sections are the best. I’ve always found treasures in them.

Positive Vibes

I just realized that there are tons of things that make me happy. Well, actually, it’s our choice to be happy. We may be presented with people, things or events that could bring happiness to us but if we wouldn’t look at it as such, happiness would elude us. I guess it’s all a matter of having positive attitude and spreading positive vibes.

For my own interest and satisfaction, allow me to share the following things that make me happy at present:

1. a loving husband
2. a caring family and an equally caring in-laws
3. a problem and trouble-free job
4. reading books
5. chatting with friends on FB
6. sharing photos and interacting with friends on Instagram
7. eating healthy
8. going to the gym with friends who value health and fitness as much (or sometimes as little, haha) as I do
9. blog hopping

Home and Design Blogs

Aside from lifestyle and food blogs, reading home and design blogs never fails to make me feel good. Actually, they inspire me. Inspiration, that’s the operative word. Looking at newly made-over rooms, effortlessly beautiful spaces, pieces of furniture that were modified to create new looks for the home, DIY projects, arts and crafts, and other design inspirations gives me a high (the good kind, of course!). These blogs make me want to do exactly what they’re doing to their homes to my own home. If only my space is as lovely as theirs, or I’m as rich or as creative as they are.

I hope to paint our place yellow someday! (like this image taken from here)

But I’m not. I will have to save up money first before venturing in a home improvement project. With our finances right now, I can’t just buy new items to add to our house. You know what I just do? I make a list of the things I wanna copy or adapt from so that when the time comes that I already have the resources to use in my projects (DIY or otherwise), I can easily plan and make my move. Isn’t that smart? Haha.

Review: Real Simple Solutions Slimline Hangers

I used to lust over wooden hangers. I thought they were simple and low-maintenance yet they exude a certain sense of elegance. I wanted to buy a few dozen after seeing them at S&R last month but decided against it because I didn’t have enough cash that time. (My credit card was out of the question.) If I remembered correctly, the 5-piece set costs PHP189.75.

The hubby and I dropped by S&R Aseana-Baclaran Branch again last Saturday on our way home to Bacoor to get a quick grab and I suddenly remembered about the wooden hangers. When I saw them again, I thought it was the time to get them. But when my eyes landed on a box of slim hangers made of metal but dressed in olive-colored velvet, I knew right then and there my obsession with wooden hangers has died.
