Weekend Story: Bonding with My Mom and My Sister

Last weekend was all about family bonding. My mom and my sister Jodie suddenly decided to join the hubby and me in Bacoor. I told them we didn’t have any plans (read: we’d just stay at home) and they said they were fine with it. I really didn’t want to go out; I just wanted to rest after having had a bout with cold and cough recently.

We reached Bacoor on Saturday afternoon. We were supposed to attend the 7PM anticipated mass at St. Jerome Emiliani and Sta. Susana Parish in Alabang but just when we were about to hit the road, it rained real hard. Mag-iisang oras na, umuulan pa rin. Kaloka. Ang ending, na-miss namin ang mass!

Weekend Story: At Home in Manila

The hubby and I have been missing our Bacoor home already. It’s been weeks that we haven’t visited it. I don’t know if the few plants in our plant box are still alive or not. I don’t know how our lone Malunggay tree is coping to the “dry” situation (though I have a feeling it will continue to thrive).

On a related note, our office clothes are of the same set. We just wash them during weekends for use in the next work week. Sorry, TMI. I don’t know if my officemates are already noticing my clothes, but what the heck. Haha. The good news is, we are going home tonight. Wohoo!

Weekend Story: Family Outing + Work on a Sunday

Last weekend was super fun. Well, scratch that. The fun only happened on Saturday because we had a family outing. Sunday was a different ballgame. I had to go to work and though I was quite productive, lazing away on a Sunday is still waaaaaay better. Haha.

So, we went home in Bacoor with my in-laws on Friday night. The next day, Saturday, we woke up early, packed our things and drove to Kalipayan Hotel and Resort in Dasmariñas, Cavite. We got there at 7am-ish. After paying our entrance fees (P200 per head) and renting the same kubo (P600, good for 12 persons) that we stayed in during our previous visit last Holy Week, we started unpacking our stuff.

Weekend Story: Lent Observance + Lots of Family Bonding

How was your long weekend, friends? I hope you all had a wonderful time. The recent Holy Week gave the hubby and I ample time to spend with our family so that was exactly what we did. Of course, there were the usual moments of reflection and the observance of some religious traditions. All these and more have made our long weekend fun and meaningful at the same time.

Please be warned that this post contains more photos than usual.

On Maundy Thursday, the hubby and I, along with Mame, did the traditional Visita Iglesia. As what has been our practice, we visited seven churches (two stations per church to complete the 14 Stations of the Cross). We joined the huge crowd composed of people from all walks of life in getting from one church to another. We started early at around 8:30AM. The weather was a bit cooperative that time (read: shady with some short bursts of sunshine) so we enjoyed the long walk.

Our First Chinese New Year Experience in Binondo

Yesterday was epic. For the very first time, I thought of going to Binondo on Chinese New Year to check out how this auspicious occasion is celebrated there. Yes, I was just curious. So I dragged the hubby with me and off we braved the traffic and the crowd to experience our first Chinese New Year in the oldest Chinatown in the world having been established in 1594.

We reached Jones Bridge at past 3:00 p.m., left the car at a safe parking area somewhere there, and walked our way into Chinatown while watching the ongoing parade participated in by various groups. My SIL Albie joined us as soon as we arrived at Lucky Chinatown Mall. She actually went to Divisoria in the morning to shop at 168 Mall with her friends Grace and Angie.

Weekend Story: Post-Valentine Celebration with Family

Last weekend turned out to be hectic but memorable and fun. It was the Valentine’s weekend that people were looking forward to, after all. And speaking of that, how did your celebration go? *insert a sugary sweet smile here*

Just like in the past years, I had work on Valentine’s Day which fell on a Saturday. La Cocina de Tita Moning was full house and if I remember it correctly, we had a total of 30 groups as guests. There were two groups that cancelled their reservations, though, either due to heavy traffic or some kind of an emergency. We were able to close the restaurant at almost 12 midnight already.
