Weekend Story: 5th Wedding Anniversary Celebration

Our fifth wedding anniversary called for a celebration and deserved a long weekend so the hubby and I both filed for a leave last Friday. We then checked into Acacia Hotel in Alabang for a staycation (just what we needed after an exhausting work week!). Acacia Hotel didn’t disappoint, from the room accommodation and hotel facilities to the friendly service and breakfast buffet. Everything was beyond what we expected so we ended up having an awesome overnight stay. The rest of our weekend was spent with family: malling with my in-laws on Saturday night and driving up to Antipolo to hear mass and having a family dinner at Robinsons Place Ermita on Sunday. It was a fun weekend and we are grateful for the happy memories created and shared.

Here are several photos depicting our weekend activities:

Weekend Story: New Car + Other Stuff

With the arrival of our new car last Friday, we are back to paying monthly car amortizations starting April. I had mixed feelings about this as I initially wanted to use our old car as long as possible. But after understanding where the hubby was coming from, I gave in to his plea and went on to co-sign the car loan with him. Wives should listen to their husbands, sometimes, hahaha.

We sold our old car (thank you and goodbye, Nissen!) to buy a new one (hello and welcome, British!). It was another adult decision that we’ve both agreed to make. So help us God. Now we have a better car that could get us from point A to point B more comfortably and with greater efficiency. For one, it has automatic transmission. The car is now easier to drive for us. Also, it’s diesel, not gas, which implies cheaper fuel prices. Actually, based on the hubby’s thorough research, he found out the Hyundai Accent 2017 has more pro’s than con’s. It’s really just a matter of how the driver uses it, good practices, proper maintenance, and all.

Weekend Story: A Fab Engagement Party in Manila + A Visit to Bacoor

Last weekend felt bitin (as usual) but we had lots of fun. On Saturday, I woke up to the sounds of people walking around and moving stuff. There would be an engagement party that night in the Legarda Mansion (a.k.a. where my PILs work and live). I expected the set up to be beautiful but I didn’t expect it to be breathtakingly beautiful. Like it was taken right out of the setting of Beauty and the Beast (looking forward to the upcoming movie also?) with the hanging chandeliers, the glass lanterns on the floor, the candelabras on the table, the gold Tiffany chairs, and the floral arrangements and garden vines scattered all over the place. I would find out later that it was styled by no less than Jo Claravall who creates real life wonderlands for a living.

And because one of the newly-engaged couple throwing the party was a Legarda and the hubby’s kababata, we were included in the guest list. Food was catered by Cibo. Music was provided by a harp and an orchestra. There was also a DJ during the afterparty. It was a fab and tasteful engagement party and I think all guests went home happy. The newly-engaged couple Tessa and Fred are having their church wedding in France next year. We want to be there but unfortunately, di namin afford, hahaha.

Weekend Story: Baguio Trip + Bacoor Visit

I was in Baguio last Friday and Saturday for work and so the hubby and I only got to drive home in Bacoor on Saturday night after I arrived in Manila from Baguio. We spent the rest of the weekend just taking some rest and finishing some errands.

Our event in Baguio was a success (thank God!). It was super cold there during our visit (we were a group of five). Balita ko umabot pa ng 8 degrees Celsius nung madaling araw ng Sabado, buti na lang tulog pa ako nun at nakabalot ng comforter sa hotel, hahaha. But I enjoyed Baguio so much I wanted to go back this summer!

Weekend Story: Home Sweet Home with My In-Laws

One of the perks of staying in our Bacoor home during weekends is we get to practice being husband and wife. You know, just the two of us doing things together. Having house guests, however, has its own advantages. Like when my in-laws join us in Bacoor, for instance, and life suddenly becomes easier. You see, my MIL is very fond of doing household chores. Whenever she’s visiting us, she wouldn’t stop until she sees the whole house spick and span. Actually, she hates clutter so much that when she was still working at the restaurant, she would spend her days off staying at home and just cleaning up their house. She gets satisfied and happy doing just that. Now that she’s semi-retired, she still does a lot of cleaning (at their place here in Manila and at ours in Bacoor). I hope I inherit her “kasipagan” one day. Haha.

Weekend Story: More Time Together and With Family

Last weekend was just like a lot of our past weekends — simple and quiet. On Saturday, the hubby biked in Mall of Asia (MOA) in the morning with his biking buddy Giannie while I was busy sleeping, hahaha. When afternoon came, we drove home in Bacoor. We had the house all to ourselves and so we had a lot of couple time doing mostly household chores. We got back to Manila on Sunday night and had a family dinner at Max’s Restaurant SM Manila courtesy of our seaman cousin Jun2x who has just come back from his 11-month stint in a foreign cargo ship. (He was also part of a few of my weekend stories in 2015 when he was still staying at my siblings’ place finishing his seafarer’s trainings and completing his papers.). Thanks again for the treat, Jun2x!

It was another weekend to remember and these few photos are proof to that:
