My Preloved Bags: Louis Vuitton Monogram Speedy 30 and Gucci Canvas Abbey D-Ring Hobo Bag

Many people believe the pandemic has unleashed the spendthrift in us. I’m one of them. The savings I thought I would accumulate because of the past lockdowns and the work from home (WFH) setup I enjoyed (and continue to enjoy at present) didn’t materialize. Why? Because I spent a lot on food deliveries and online shopping. I dunno with you but I found it too easy to burn cash while stuck at home overthinking about the COVID-19 situation and its implications to my and my family’s future.

But hey, I’m not here to regret my purchases or berate myself for my lack of financial discipline because truth be told, surviving the pandemic with our sanity intact and without having to worry if we could eat 3x a day is a huge blessing in itself. And because we have recently won the fight against COVID-19 as a family in God’s grace and without incurring any medical debts, this financial boo-boo (if you can call it that) is easy to overlook, and for good reason.

Christmas Shopping 2015

It’s that time of the year again. Are you done with Christmas shopping? Yes? Not yet? I know some people who start shopping for Christmas presents as early as July. As for me, I’m still in the process of completing my list and trying to set a decent budget for it. I normally charge it to my credit card and get the money from my year-end bonus when it’s payment time. Unlike last year when I overspent a little, I plan to stick to my budget this time. Like, seriously.

Aside from going to Divisoria and hitting the malls for Christmas presents, I also plan to shop online. I even think I’d shop for most of the items in my list online. It sounds more convenient and practical to me given the horrible traffic situation here in Manila.

Weekend Story: 2015 Feast Day of St. Michael the Archangel + Other Stuff

Last weekend was spent here in Manila in observance of the 2015 Feast Day of St. Michael the Archangel. In short, naki-fiesta kami! Not at our neighbors’ houses but just at my in-laws’ and at my siblings’ homes. Haha.

While Mame cooked Pinoy style spaghetti and lumpiang Shanghai, my MIL whipped up pork and chicken adobo and buko salad. They sent their respective “handa” to each other and so we were able to eat a lot of food. Knowing my MIL, had she not gone to work last Sunday (when the actual feast day fell), she would have cooked more food.

Backless Dresses for Special Occasions

I love dresses. I think I’ve said this many times on this blog. While I prefer wearing dresses on casual days, special occasions require a formal dress which is sometimes quite hard to find. Style, fit, and color are just some of the factors one has to consider when choosing a formal dress.

One of the dresses that I find elegant and sensual, at the same time, to wear to a formal occasion is a backless dress. A girl wearing a backless dress can’t help but feel confident and sexy at the same time.

Grouponing Again

I got hooked on groupon sites sometime in 2011. Back then, I would use my spare money buying vouchers from different merchants without hesitation. The distribution was like this: 80% food/restaurants, 10% household items and 10% beauty and pampering services. It was always a great feeling knowing I had saved a lot from all these purchases.

But then, not all merchants treated me well. While some merchants were good and delivered on their promise, there were those that didn’t live up to my expectations or were just pain in the a$% with their poor service. And I believe I share this same sentiment with other loyal groupon customers. It eventually came to a point when I lost interest in patronizing these groupon sites. I finally stopped grouponing in early 2012.

New Electric Mixer

I’ve finally bought an electric mixer last week. It’s a Marubishi 5-Speed Stand Mixer MHM-505 which I got for P990 from Lazada, a local shopping site. This purchase was a gamble because 1) I don’t know the brand and 2) I don’t know if the appliance is durable or not. It was also my first time to shop at Lazada and I had no idea about their service until this transaction (which turned out to be okay naman).

Anyway, I plan to use my new electric mixer this weekend! I’m quite excited because I was doing the mixing manually in my past baking experiments. (Yes, I’m that frugal.) If you’re following this blog, you may have seen pictures of them before. So far, I’ve already baked banana cake, brownies, chocolate cake and red velvet cake. With this new addition to my baking arsenal, I can already imagine happier baking days!
