Weekend Story: Caring for a Sick Baby

The two past weekends felt like a loooooong one to us. Just remembering the recent events make me wanna cry in relief. Baby NJ got sick with cold and cough which was followed by a high fever and ended up in tigdas hangin (German measles). She had rashes all over her body and looked so kawawa. But the rashes cleared up on their own without meds after a few days like how they were supposed to. She got sick right after her 10th month birthday pa naman but thank God she eventually got well completely within a two-week period so I opted to make a single weekend story for the two weekends that passed.

Weekend Story: Tagaytay Trip + Condo Visit with Baby NJ

I guess up until our rainbow baby is at least two years old and tiny no more, I’m gonna call her “baby NJ” on this blog. I still can’t believe how we got so lucky for having a baby at this point in my and the hubby’s married life and at this juncture in world history where COVID-19 has changed the way people do things and look at life in general. But before I become more emo, let me talk about the long weekend that passed.

Our long weekend was extra special because the hubby and I got to take baby NJ to Tagaytay, her first out-of-town trip that involved no doctors and vaccines, haha. She wasn’t able to have a picture with the famous Taal Lake though, because the two establishments we visited — Cliffhouse and Bag of Beans — didn’t allow entry to people 15 years old and below in compliance with IATF health protocols. Actually, we never planned to dine inside those restos, we just wanted her to have a decent photo with the famous lake, but to no avail.

Weekend Story: Condo Visit + Naic Trip

Last weekend was quite hectic but still fun. On Saturday, the hubby and I went out of the house for a quick grocery run and to visit our condo to see how it fared after the typhoon (it was fine, thank you). On Sunday, we went to my parents’ house in Naic to get their Christmas tree that was being kept there. They plan to put up the said tree at their place here in Bacoor so baby NJ gets to see one this holiday season. We don’t have a Christmas tree at home (there’s just no space for it in our tiny and cluttered house!) so it’s a good thing we’re neighbors, haha. We got hungry on the road so we stopped by King Bee on our way home from Naic for some delicious Chinese food (my fave!).

The rest of the weekend was spent taking care of baby NJ who’s getting so makulit and malikot lately. She now has eight teeth (and uses them excitedly to bite my poor nipples, ouch!) and is turning 10 months old on the first week of December. Time flies, indeed!

Weekend Story: Baby NJ’s Pedia Visit + 9th Month Birthday Celebration

Last weekend was memorable and fun. On Saturday, we paid a visit to baby NJ’s pedia for her wellness checkup and two vaccine shots. (So, akala namin huling bakuna na nya this year, meron pa pala sa December, haha.) That same day, we also went grocery shopping at Puregold-Molito in Alabang (it’s bigger there and has less crowd!). In the evening, we had a special family dinner to celebrate our rainbow baby’s 9th month of existence. Our Sunday was slow and steady and spent mostly with our bundle of joy. How come our weekends suddenly feel bitin now that she’s here? Nakakaloka, but in a good way, hehehe.

Weekend Story: Drive to Alabang + Promotion Dinner Treat

Have you tried dining out lately? We have on a few occasions, the most recent one was last Saturday at Ramen Yushoken because we were craving for ramen and not just any ramen but their very own tantanmen. So, the hubby and I drove to Alabang to eat tantanmen and run some errand for my side of the family. We were not surprised at all that Ramen Yushoken still had a queue outside despite the threats of the virus. We waited for a good 40 minutes before we got seated. We were extra careful, of course. It was a quick but very satisfying lunch. On Sunday, my brother Dan treated the family to dinner because he has recently been promoted at work. We had KFC and Jollibee (two of the fastfood brands we patronize). We capped off our dinner with the desserts (i.e. cheesecake cups and cookies) he ordered from his enterprising friends.

The rest of the weekend was spent with our baby NJ whom we love to pieces!

Weekend Story: Unli Family Time

While we always look forward to weekends (kaway-kaway sa mga weekend warriors dyan!), weekends these days for us are extra special because family members are around. The family is complete because we really try to lessen our trips outside. If before, my siblings (who are our neighbors) normally go out with friends during weekends, now they’re home. Mornings are for coffee breaks and afternoons are well, for merienda, haha. We bond over food: food that are available at home and food delivered via Food Panda or Grab Food. It’s more costly this way because we tend to include online shopping in our bonding sessions, but at least we know our chances of getting the dreaded virus is low.
