The Joy and Meaning of Shopping

This is not to say that I’m turning into a big time shopaholic. I just want to share with you my shopping habit. While I have long been a frugal person, I also occasionally indulge in shopping either to reward myself for a hard day’s work or simply be happy over a cute but useful purchase. When you’re a disciplined shopper, the joy of shopping will never get replaced by headaches due to overspending or credit card debts that went beyond control.

I shopped twice last weekend and thought I got some great deals. One was in Baclaran and the other was at the Dept. Store of Robinsons Place Manila. I spent 500 bucks on the former and a little over a thousand on the latter. The two unplanned shopping trips made me happy, content and inspired. Yes, I got inspired because my purchases, which include a pair of flat shoes, four pairs of earrings, one ring, one belt, two tops, one dress and one blazer, will serve as part of my investment to achieve my second goal for 2011. When you shop for a purpose, shopping becomes meaningful.

Big Blister on My Left Foot

It happened so fast. I just wore my new shoes to the office one random weekday. It’s a black, open-toed pair in three-inch heels. I don’t know how to describe it correctly but it has a shoe lace. Christmas Bazaars are Love

Last Saturday, I finally started checking out bazaars with some blogger friends right after attending a blog event at Eastwood Mall. The other side of Eastwood called Citywalk was having this bazaar and I couldn’t stop looking around. I ended up getting several pieces of clothing, accessories and shoes. I spent close to P2,000 and at first I was wondering why I wasn’t regretting buying anything at all. I’m very frugal, you know. It must be because all the items I bought were dirt-cheap!

A Full-Packed Weekend, Kinda

So, the past weekend has been very engaging and fun for me. I participated in the Canon Photomarathon 2010 and spent the day eating, brisk walking and taking pictures with blogger friends Nicely (a.k.a my Superfriend), Arvin, JP, Alex and Vince. The three of us (Arvin, Nicely and me) even sneaked out of the venue late in the afternoon to take a peek into the Nido Science Discovery Center where we got free entrance and a personalized tour of the place courtesy of Arvin’s contact. I recommend this interactive science center to all kids and kids-at-heart. It’s very educational and entertaining.
