2021 Personal Theme: Simplicity

I have always thought of myself as a simple person. While I also have an eye for the finer things in life, I make sure to live within (and sometimes even below!) my means. In fact, I still hate it when I go impulse shopping, but lately, I’ve been reminding myself that it’s okay to indulge once in a while and reward myself for my hard work all these years. So yeah, I can say I’m still the simple Edel that my family and true friends know by heart.

Weekend Story: Rainy Weekend in Bacoor

Because June has officially started, rains have become a regular thing in this side of the world. The hubby and I drove to Bacoor last Friday night and spent the weekend at home. We only went out to buy some groceries and after that, enjoyed the company of each other inside the four corners of our humble abode. My PILs joined us on Saturday and we all went back to Manila on Sunday night. It was quite relaxing and fun. The only downside of the situation was that the continuous drizzle made us eat more than we used to. Good thing we had enough food in the pantry and my MIL did all the cooking as usual. Love her talaga! Haha.

2017 Personal Theme: Gratitude

“Gratitude is the best attitude.” ~from an unknown author

Last year, my personal theme was Health + Wealth. I didn’t accomplish much in the health department but I’m glad to have made some considerable progress in the wealth area. Given that, I’m sad and happy at the same time.

I’m quite sad because instead of achieving my target weight, I even gained unwanted pounds. 12 freaking pounds, to be exact. From 128 to 140! Yes, seriously! That’s how big I got. I brisk walked and biked but these didn’t become a regular thing so the effect was nowhere to be seen. I also ate a looooooot and it was the reason of the dramatic weight gain. Now, I’m so faaaaaaaat and I can’t do anything about it. Yet. I’m slowly trying to eat less and healthy again and hopefully, along with exercise, I’d lose some weight. No pressure, Edel. Take your sweet time.

A Wallet Story

Do you wanna know what my birthday gift to myself is? A wallet. Do you wanna know what I asked the hubby for his birthday present to me? Another wallet. Why would I need two wallets, you might ask. My answer is…why not? One for weekdays, one for weekends. End of story.

But wait, I’m in the mood for a wallet story, so here it is. Growing up in the province, I always saw the contents of Mame’s wallet. I always knew when she still had money or when she was running out of it. When I knew she had extra money, I’d ask her to buy me the few fancy things I liked. When I knew she had very little money, I kept my mouth shut and never bothered her for anything that would have the potential of burning a hole in her pocket.

Weekend Story: Home After a While

As early as Friday night, the hubby and I were already in our marital home in Bacoor to spend the weekend there. Instead of using our own car, we brought my FIL’s car so the hubby could have it cleaned thoroughly (he said it’s called auto detailing) by his suking car wash shop. (It took them two days to finish cleaning the car.) Given the (car) situation, we decided to just stay home and slow down.

Weekend Story: In Sickness and In Health

I felt that last weekend was too short for a break from work. Maybe it’s due to the fact that I’ve been sick since Monday and I was actually looking forward to a long rest come weekend. Well, I did get enough rest on Sunday but it wasn’t enough for me to get rid of my nasty dry cough. I now feel better, though, as compared to last week.

On Saturday, the hubby went to graduate school while I overslept. When evening came, we had dinner at my PILs’ place and heard the anticipated mass at our neighborhood parish before hitting the road. We reached our Bacoor home at past 8:00 p.m. Early bedtime for us.
