First Time at Solaire Resort and Casino, Entertainment City

I found out about the newly-opened Solaire Resort and Casino at Entertainment City through the Instagram updates of several of my blogger friends. I got curious of the nice pictures they posted so I asked the hubby if we could go there one time. It seemed he was also interested in the idea because the day after, he told me we’d check out the place and probably play in the casino Friday night. Cool.

And so last Friday night on our way home to Bacoor, we dropped by at this world-class integrated resort complex just to know what the fuss was all about. Traffic was light at past 10pm so after around 20 minutes, we got to the place and parked our car inside the parking building that lets you park for free as a courtesy of Solaire to their guests.

Holy Week Plans

The holy week has arrived. It’s holy Tuesday today and my mind has been wandering around to some faraway place. I want the work days to end already (but it won’t until tomorrow) so I could enjoy the remaining days of the week. At home.

No, we don’t have holy week plans aside from our Visita Iglesia tradition. This time, however, we’re visiting the churches in Cavite instead of the usual ones in Manila. My superfriend Nice who’s a certified Caviteña has already showed me the way. She and her family did their Visita Iglesia tradition through Cavite-based churches last year. She gave me a list of churches to visit complete with a guided route so I’d know which church to visit first and so on and so forth. Cool.

Palm Sunday

Yesterday was Palm Sunday or the start of the Holy Week. As we had expected, the neighborhood parish where we heard the morning mass was filled to the brim with people waving palaspas (decorated palm fronds). One look and you could tell they’re all there for two things: to reaffirm their faith in Jesus and have their palaspas blessed by the priest so they could hang it on their doors when they get home.

Traffic was bad on our way to the church. The hubby and I mutually decided that I go ahead so I could buy some palaspas and have them blessed (usually the blessing is done prior to the mass). And that’s what I did. He, on the other hand, stayed in the car driving. We just met inside the church. The mass finished on time despite the large crowd and the intense heat.

Another Work Week Ends

Thank God it’s Friday! As cliché as it sounds, I really like it when it’s Friday already. It means the work week ends at 5:00 pm (6:00 pm in my case!), the weekend is just several hours away, and a new adventure awaits me. The adventure could be a relaxing stay at home, a tiring but enjoyable mall trip or an impromptu road trip. Actually, it can be anything that creates happy memories and spells f-u-n.

On a different note, today is a special day in our office as it celebrates its founding anniversary. I heard there will be free packed lunch for everyone and a mass will be held this afternoon. Cool. This doesn’t happen every day so I better take advantage of it. Haha.

Summer Outing

It’s that time of the year again to hit the beach and bask in the glory of the sun. I’m talking about summer outings, my friends. Our office is not one to get left behind when it comes to summer outings especially now that we are allowed to have an all-expense-paid team building activity yearly.

But don’t get me wrong, the “all-expense-paid” part is quite an exaggeration. It’s not the “sky is the limit” kind. We’re never allowed to splurge because everything falls on a strict budget. But of course, we can still spend our own money if we like. Somehow, we’re still in control so we can have fun if we want to. And that’s what I like about it.

First Wedding Anniversary

Yesterday, March 17, was our first wedding anniversary. The hubby took me out for a lunch date at Corniche, one of the restaurants inside Diamond Hotel. We had a great time feasting on the wide buffet spread. We’ve dined at Corniche a few times already and every time, the food was good. Nothing spectacular but definitely hotel quality.

Diamond Hotel is close to our hearts. This was where we had our wedding preps and it was a big part of our wedding video and photo shoots. The hubby and I have fond memories of our two-night stay at the hotel (prior and after the wedding) and we like the fact that it’s facing the Manila bay which makes its ambiance truly romantic.
