Weekend Story: Parents-in-Law’s Golden Wedding Anniversary + Mame’s 67th Birthday

Last weekend was a time of joy for our family. It was actually a back-to-back celebration: my parents-in-law’s golden wedding anniversary and Mame’s 67th birthday. So, we had special family lunch on Saturday and on Sunday. Both lunches even got extended to dinner because there were still leftover food to be shared.

We didn’t let the pandemic stop us from having a great time. On Saturday, we paid a visit to San Miguel Church (a.k.a. The National Shrine of St. Michael and the Archangels) in Manila where my PILs got married 50 years ago on July 31, 1971. The hubby and my SIL took turns in taking photos of their parents while I looked after baby NJ who instantly busied herself with exploring the church premises.

We were able to book a priest to bless my PILs but instead of doing it inside the church, the hubby picked up the priest from the church and brought him to the condo. Prior to that, I had the brightest idea of having the condo blessed as well. This was the reason why we decided to hold the family lunch for my PILs’ golden wedding anniversary at the condo. Para sulit ang punta ni father at isahang handa na lang, hehe.

love this golden couple!

On Sunday, we just dressed up a little and knock on the house next door (the perk of having your parents as neighbors!) came lunchtime for Mame’s birthday celebration. We just had food and cake ordered for her so there would be no reason for us to go out anymore.
