Last weekend was a time of joy for our family. It was actually a back-to-back celebration: my parents-in-law’s golden wedding anniversary and Mame’s 67th birthday. So, we had special family lunch on Saturday and on Sunday. Both lunches even got extended to dinner because there were still leftover food to be shared.
The hubby and I were in two locations last weekend. Of course, Bacoor is a given. On Saturday, we celebrated Mame’s 65th birthday at their place next door. She invited some friends and neighbors over. Her nephew Kuya Neil and his family (they’re the ones based in Mandaluyong that we occasionally visit) also came to celebrate with us. It was a good celebration and we had lots of fun. We were also thankful to Mame’s guests for coming to her lunch party despite the rains and the flood they encountered on their way to Bacoor and in the city itself.
On Sunday, the hubby and I, along with my parents and my sister Jodie, attended the christening of our cousin’s baby in Pasig. The reception was held at Comida China de Manila along C5 Road. There we saw many relatives from my father’s side of the family. Ayun, kamustahan at kwentuhang walang humpay! Nag-enjoy kami lahat at umuwing masasaya. We even got to pay a visit to the St. Pio Shrine at Libis on our way home to light some candles.
Last long weekend was busy but fun and meaningful. It was Mother’s Day on Sunday so I planned something special for Mame. She just wanted to take a dip in the pool (she loves to
swim float, lol) but I wanted more for her because she deserved it. I initially wanted to take her to the beach but the beach resorts we liked in Batangas were mostly fully booked. There were open slots for day tours but the hubby said nakakapagod mag-drive at di sulit kung balikan lang kami. I looked some more until I came across this Mother’s Day promo posted on the FB page of Batangas Country Club (BCC) which consisted of an overnight stay for a family of four with breakfast and a free dinner buffet and massage for mom, all for just PhP4,500 nett. It was a great deal so I booked it right away. It turned out to be a relaxing staycation for Mame, my sister Jodie, the hubby, and me.
Last weekend was spent packing and moving stuff. The hubby and I, along with my side of the family, also got busy attending to Mame’s needs in the hospital. She had a bad fall while taking a bath on Thursday morning and complained of intense back pain after, so we rushed her to the ER of Manila Doctors Hospital at Ermita. Apparently, she had a spine compression fracture and the ER doctor recommended that she get admitted in the hospital for pain management. She had an option for a surgery (kyphoplasty) for faster recovery but she declined (we supported her decision) upon knowing that the compression would heal on its own naman. She stayed in the hospital until Sunday afternoon and was prescribed more pain meds. She’s fine now and the pain is quite tolerable already but she’ll be back in the hospital for follow up check-ups next week.
Last weekend was spent in Bacoor with Mame and my sister Jodie. We drove there on Saturday night and headed back to Manila on Sunday night. It was just an overnight stay that saw us (me, in particular) getting hooked on Netflix and just lazing around because, weekend. We are grateful for the happy moments we shared just eating, sleeping, and of course, watching a lot of Netflix. The husband, on the other hand, was more productive than the rest of us as he got to wash his car and do the laundry (with some help from Mame). I love my housemate and our house guests. Haha.
Because the hubby and I were in Bohol when Mother’s Day came, I asked Mame (who dragged my sister Jodie along) to join us for the weekend in Bacoor so I could take her on a date, a post Mother’s Day celebration of sorts. We didn’t do anything grand, we just drove around and dined out at some of Mame’s fave restos (yung mga namiss nya daw kainan!). We reached Bacoor on Saturday afternoon and spent the night there. We then went to Solenad in Sta. Rosa City, Laguna on Sunday morning before going home in Manila that same day. Mame made us laugh a lot again with her unique sense of humor and before we knew it, the weekend was over.
