Socials Go to Diamond Hotel!

It’s not everyday that my officemates and I go out. That’s why each time we hit the street to unwind, we try to make the most of our escapade. Last night we were at Corniche in Diamond Hotel to avail of their dinner buffet using the GC’s we all got as belated Christmas gifts. No, we didn’t pay using hsn coupons or those vouchers from Groupon sites but that would’ve been fun, too. Haha.

Dining in a five-star hotel isn’t new to me but somehow, I doubly enjoyed it because I was with a bunch of happy people. My officemates are very easy to please and they laugh even on the most trivial stuff. Last night, we all went home with great satisfaction over good food and even better company. What a way to end a long work day!

I Choose to be Happy

In life, there are many decisions to make. Usually, we are presented with two different choices, sometimes more. We normally decide based on what we think is right, good for us, or fair to all. Sometimes, we decide based on what our heart says. We decide on what makes us happy.

This year, I choose to be happy. I choose not to make grand plans for myself, career-wise and all. I will take everything slowly yet surely. Yeah, like one step at a time. I will not expect anything. I will just let myself do what it needs to do without sacrificing the quality of my life and my happiness and those of the people I love.

No New Year’s Resolutions for Me in 2012

Well, I just thought I won’t make any New Year’s resolutions this year of the dragon. No, it’s not because I’m not inspired nor determined to make this year as fruitful as the previous one. It’s not because I’ve stopped being a dreamer, either.

Actually, it’s simply because I don’t wanna impose on myself anymore. I don’t wanna put pressure upon myself anymore. This year, I have promised myself that I’d just do the things that will make me happy and content one plan at a time. There will be no deadlines, no impractical and impossible wishes that are only bound to make me frustrated about myself in the end.

Happy 2012!

It’s a brand new year and yet everything still seems like a blur to me. I have mixed feelings about 2012. It must be because this is gonna be a big year for me. When I say “big,” I’m not referring to success (though it won’t hurt if I get a bit lucky and become successful this year!). I’m actually talking about the changes that are gonna happen in my life.

First, I am getting married this year. My world is gonna turn upside down, but hopefully it’ll be for the better (right, Mr. Fiancé?). I’m very optimistic about that. Next, I won’t be the breadwinner of my family anymore. I will miss this title. It’s like something is gonna be taken away from me. I know I can depend on my brother to take on the responsibilities attached to the role but somehow, I am feeling a tinge of sadness. It must be because I know I’ll be missing my family (physically and emotionally) the moment I step out of our home to live with my new husband.

Home Thoughts

Right now, I’m thinking about our humble home in Cavite. It’s been almost two years since we settled there. It’s been my parent’s permanent abode and me and my sibling’s haven during the weekends. Gradually, we were able to improve our house and now it looks better than ever. Thank God for the financial blessings that allowed us to finance some very crucial home improvement projects!

I can still remember the time we install tile flooring in our house. A good friend from the US helped me with this and I won’t forget his kindness and generosity for that. As time went by, we were able to acquire new appliances that made our life easier and more comfortable. Then, one by one, we were able to secure our extension lot which now serves as our kitchen and lavatory, get grills and screens for our doors and windows and buy more household items that added color and depth to our home.

Christmas 2011

How was your Christmas celebration? Was it merry and fun? I hope so. My family and I celebrated Christmas in our humble home in Cavite. We had a simple Noche Buena on midnight. We had chicken noodle soup, queso de bola (edam cheese), holiday ham, sandwiches, fruit salad and softdrinks. We slept right after.

On Christmas day itself, my brother and I woke up early to prepare some dishes because we had visitors (including the fiancé and his sister A who would be fetching me and taking me back to Manila) coming over. My brother cooked menudo while I whipped up some Pinoy style spaghetti, fried some chicken and holiday ham and made some cheese sandwiches. The rest of the family was busy attending to well-dressed kids asking for their aguinaldos. By 8:00 p.m., I was already back in Manila ready to face a new work week.
