Canon Ixus 105: To Get or Not To Get

When I heard about Canon’s price drop for the entire month of February, I jumped at the idea of getting my first ever digicam. Why not if it was a Canon Ixus 105 and costed almost ten grand only? The original price was P12,950. I mean, it’s Canon. The brand speaks for itself. It would surely be a great buy.

I tried contacting Canon DZone at Mall of Asia last month but the sales personnel there informed me they didn’t have the unit I wanted on stock. I then ask to have one reserved under my name, to which they gamely obliged. When I called up again last week, they still didn’t have the unit. That was the time I accepted the fact I couldn’t have it at a discounted price.

New Look for Summer

There’s no denying summer is here. Last night was very humid I had to turn on the fan so I could sleep. I guess I will have to do that every night for the rest of this season to feel comfortable in my slumber. Given that, I should expect my electric bill to balloon a little in the next two months. But that’s okay so long as I don’t perspire like crazy.

my new ‘do without the color and the highlights

Last Friday, I finally got a new hair ‘do. It was a short pixie cut that looked good on me (according to almost everyone, haha). To complete the new look that was very summer-y, I had my hair dyed and got some highlights at the same salon the next day. I have never looked this young and chic and cool. Just what a nice hair cut can do to a face. And to think I only spent a little over P600 for it!

Hives Attack

For two consecutive days last week, I experienced hives attack. When I got up on the first day, I noticed red patches on my arms, elbows, legs, back shoulders, and even butt. I haven’t experienced any allergies before so I got a bit alarmed. I thought maybe I ate something that caused it. I didn’t mind it much and thought it would just go away on its own.

When I got awakened early morning of the second day, around 4:00 a.m., I felt freezing cold. When I checked my body I saw swollen, red patches all over. As in, all over. That was when it dawned on me the culprit could be the extreme cold. We left the windows opened and the electric fan turned on, too. I immediately closed the windows and switched the fan off. I also got a blanket from my closet and wrapped it around my body, with only my face showing while I was lying down. When I woke up again at 7:00 a.m., the red patches were all gone like I didn’t have them earlier.

Computer Education for my Parents

If there are people who need computer education, that would be our parents. If you’re like me who’s in her late 20’s, chances are your parents are now in their late 50’s and do not know how to use the computer. Unless they are working in an office or they get to use computers at home, our parents need some computer lessons to appreciate their lives, and ours, better.

As for me, I felt it was my obligation to teach my parents about the wonders of computer and the internet. I believe that since we live in the same world and get exposed to the same technological advances, our parents have to keep up with these developments as well.

I started introducing my parents to the PC two years ago. My dad showed interest first and learned quite fast. I remember he got addicted to Plants vs. Zombies last year (he would play the game on the PC 12 hours daily). Funny because he’d get so emotionally attached with his plants that whenever they’d get injured by the evil zombies, he’d get mad and would act like a father to ’em poor plants. I bet if he could get the services of personal injury attorneys tucson, he won’t hesitate to file a case against their enemies. He’s that concerned.

Different Meanings of a Sigh

I have been sighing a lot the past days and with that frequency, the sighs meant different things. After my work at the restaurant the other night, my body felt really tired and so I let out a sigh of exhaustion. When I had finished a report I was working on in the office for days, I sighed in relief. When I got very interested in a restaurant deal being sold over at Deal Grocer (one of the more popular groupon sites in Manila) and found out it was sold-out already after checking out the site, I felt the need to let out a sigh of sorrow. Not really sorrow but sadness in its shallow form.

This one tops it all off. When my brother D confessed to me that he’s not happy with his job anymore and wanted to quit, I sighed in disbelief (and with a bit of disappointment) because he was being reckless with his decisions again. He said he’d just concentrate on the board exams (he’s taking the LET). I tried to give him my sisterly advice but he seemed too determined to push thru his plan. But I guess he realized I had a point so he said a moment after he’d just wait for his contract to finish. That’s roughly three weeks from now.

Pyromusical Event at Mall of Asia

We are supposed to see the 2nd Philippine International Pyromusical Competition at Mall of Asia (MOA) tonight but it seems I won’t be able to join anymore. I was told we have guests in the restaurant tonight and my services are needed. Money first before anything else. Haha.

Last year, I was able to watch the first pyromusical competition and the show was fascinating. I remember rooting for the UK team because their fireworks display were awesome to the highest level. As in. I loved their exhibition a lot I wished I had one of those steiner binoculars to be able to have a closer view of the dancing bright lights in the sky. MOA was jampacked with people then and we had quite a hard time going home because of the heavy traffic. I’m sure this year the situation hasn’t changed. But I can say it was very well worth our trip. It was my first time to see firework displays as spectacular as those.
