Craving for Noodles

When I got introduced to authentic Japanese ramen thru a blogger food tasting at Rai Rai Ken (Finlandia Makati Branch), I knew it would be the start of my love affair with noodles. The truth is, I have always liked noodles in its many forms. A steaming bowl of noodles never fails to put a smile on my face. It lifts my spirits and awakens my senses. When I’m far from home and find myself eating one, it makes me feel closer to my family. Or so the experience suggests.

Last night, I was craving for some noodles for dinner. I wanted to go to the nearest Rai Rai Ken store but my mom and I got stuck at SM supermarket grocery shopping. Good thing there was a Pao Tsin stall in their fast food corner. If you’re not too familiar with it, it’s that area facing the supermarket counters catering to people on-the-go who would like to get a quick bite before they go about their business for the day.

On Acne, Nuts and Pistacchio Ice Cream

Health benefits aside, I love how a wide variety of nuts is readily available in Manila. I practically grew up munching on peanuts and was glad my face didn’t suffer from acne. I just get to have a few pimples from time to time, but nothing too serious as to have me reading therapores review one after another to get help. You know how some people associate acne with a high-fat diet. Nuts are naturally rich in fatty acids, yes, but it doesn’t mean they cause acne. There are a lot of factors that trigger acne such as puberty or simply poor hygiene. That’s why I continue to enjoy nuts until now. My favorites are peanuts, walnuts, almonds and pistachio. Right now I’m craving for some pistachio ice cream. Yum!

Getting rid of acne is a different case altogether. Good thing we now have advance technology in skin care to treat it. I have friends who have suffered from acne in their youth and swear by the wonders of technology in helping them become acne-free. The treatments available today work like magic. I could hardly see the traces of acne on their faces. And just like me, they continue to eat nuts as part of a healthy diet.

Great Deals at Ensogo Philippines

I love great deals! When I see one, I examine it closely and when it’s as real as it looks, I buy it. Groupon (group coupon) sites have sprouted like wild mushrooms in Manila. Their marketing approach is very simple and straightforward. They make deals available in batches (100 to 3000 vouchers or more at any given time) and sell them to people online. It’s like having a personal shopper where good deals are laid on the table for your picking. Discounts can go as high as 80%. Payments are made thru credit cards, banks and even Paypal. The more you buy, the more you get to save money.

Among the many groupon sites today, I have become quite loyal to Ensogo Philippines (http://www.ensogo.com.ph). This groupon site that orginated in Thailand has many exciting offers to choose from and whose prices I find pocket-friendly. They have deals for everyone, from restaurant treats and travel packages to beauty and pampering services. I like that they come up with new offers sooner and the validity dates (the length of time you are allowed to use/avail a service) of their vouchers are longer that those offered by other groupon sites. Plus, you earn credits (1 point equals P1) in some of their deals which you could then use in your future transactions.

Pantsuit or Skirtsuit?

I have a very important meeting Tuesday next week and I’d like to leave a good impression. I’m doing this by being confident with each word I say and of course, by looking the part. They say that for meetings like the one I’m having next week, I must wear either a pantsuit or a skirtsuit. I’m taking advantage of the Cyber Monday deals to shop for one. But if I were to ask you which is the better choice, is it a pantsuit or a skirtsuit?

Breast Cancer Scare

I just learned from my aunt that a distant female relative had died of breast cancer. I find her death quite tragic and untimely because she was only in her late 30s. From what I gathered, she’d been married but with no children. Actually, her brother was my classmate and buddy from elementary to high school. I immediately sent my condolences to their bereaved family.

If I’m not mistaken, breast cancer is the leading cause of death among women. While fibrosystic breast condition (or the presence of breast lumps and breast pain before and during menstruation) is common among women in their childbearing years, it is still very important that we get rid of this. A breast lump that’s benign at first can eventually develop into a malignant tumor.

A New Car, Baby!

No, it’s not mine but I have every reason to be happy about the boyfriend’s recent purchase of a brand new car. It’s a Nissan Sentra, 2008 model. The color is steel gray and I love how it looks cool on the eyes. Yesterday, the boyfriend picked me up in the office using it. We were both ecstatic. We never thought 2011 will be this comfortable and convenient for us, transportation wise.

Of course, the happiness is felt by the two families (his and mine). It’s gonna be our service vehicle because we share things together and we treat each other as family already. Haha. Now I’m wondering what the next step will be. Oooooops, not what most of you might be thinking right now but we’re going to that part in the near future.
