Health Benefits of Lemon Grass or Tanglad

My three siblings and I spent the long weekend with my parents in our Cavite home. It was one of the best weekends I’ve ever had. On Saturday evening, we chatted the night away while lying in bed. We took a trip down memory lane. Our room got filled with laughter and loud voices. Before we knew it, it was already 4:00 a.m. But I digress. What I really want to share are the health benefits of lemon grass or tanglad.

Aside from the distinct flavor it gives to Asian dishes, tanglad has many health benefits that only a few people know or cared to know. I only read about them online, and so when my mom complained of hip and back pains last weekend (which seemed to be a case of UTI to me), I did not hesitate to advise her to drink some fresh lemon grass tea. The next morning, the pains stopped.

Strictly Cash Payments Only at Yellow Cab

We had dinner at Yellow Cab last Tuesday night. I had been craving for their pizza and spaghetti with meatballs since last week. (The last time I ate at Yellow Cab was last year.) Edwin was paying his Globe bill at SM Manila so I didn’t have a hard time asking him out.

I love Yellow Cab!

Food at Yellow Cab remains amazingly delicious. The brand is also doing well in the market. Somehow it makes me proud to be Filipino as I heard Yellow Cab is a 100% Filipino-owned company. Yeah, just like the eternally jolly bee. I wonder, though, why it’s been taking them ages to accept payment thru credit cards.

2010 Miss Universe Beauty Pageant: Miss Philippines Venus Raj is Fourth Runner-Up!

Miss Philippines Maria Venus Raj just finished 4th in the 2010 Miss Universe Beauty Pageant held in Mandalay Bay, Las Vegas. The Philippines is rejoicing. Congratulations, Venus! This is truly an achievement for you and for all of us Filipinos.

The Philippines’ bet did a good job. She may not have bagged the Miss Universe crown (which went to Miss Mexico Jimena Navarrete) but she did her best and that’s what’s important. All of us Pinoys should be happy about it. There’s no reason to criticize her for her less than satisfactory answer during the Q&A portion. The fact that she has taken herself that far in the competition already screamed of victory.

Prepare to Get Hooked on Precious Hearts Romances Presents ‘Kristine’

I used to be a fan of telenovelas (my favorites are fantaseryes!) but due to my hectic work schedule, I don’t have much time to get hooked on any of them anymore. Plus, the ones I see on TV these days are not that compelling or maybe, I find the plot too predictable and my curiosity isn’t at all piqued. That was the case until I saw the pilot episode of Precious Hearts Romances Presents ‘Kristine’ at the Kapamilya network last Monday.

Cristine Reyes stars in PHR Presents 'Krstine'

I’m happy ABS-CBN thought of this new program. Apparently, Kristine is one among the many pocketbook series authored by Martha Cecilia who happens to be a great novelist. The story line of Kristine alone excites me. It’s about two warring clans and the love that keeps binding them together.

Looking Forward to a Restful Weekend

So, it’s Friday once again and everyone’s looking forward to the weekend. I want mine to be restful. I feel I need to rest so I could get rid myself of the cold and cough that has been pestering me for two weeks now.

Due to conflicts in schedule, my officemates and I postponed our Binondo trip once again. We were supposed to have dinner at Sincerity Café and Restaurant tonight as thanksgiving for our getting retained in the office. The new date we set is Monday next week. I hope we push thru with our plan already.

What’s the Big Deal with 18?

The boyfriend and I are like other normal, young couples today who celebrate this thing called ‘monthsary.’ Ours falls on the 18th and that’s the reason why it’s a big deal. We’re not overly romantic, though, so each monthsary is different. Sometimes we go out and watch a movie, other times we just have dinner and do some window shopping at the mall.

For this month, we decided to have dinner at Yellow Cab just stay home. Actually, it will just be him as I’ll be going straight to the restaurant tonight (my part-time work). We have some guests and as usual, the tour-guide is needed.
