Updates on My 2011 Weight Loss Journey

I started 2011 feeling heavy at 138 lbs. I used to be a 120, you know. One month has passed and along with it came a happy development – I lost 6 lbs! That makes me a 132-pounder, 27 year-old gal. This is good news and makes me want to work harder to reach my ideal weight of 115 which is where one of my 2011 goals revolves around.

I have never planned to be skinny just to be called skinny, if you know what I mean. I think I have already come to terms with my own body. I know that being thin doesn’t go well with my overall appearance. My eyes would bulge out and I’d lose my boobs and my butt. I can only go as far as 115 that’s why it has become my ideal weight ever since.

The Power of Faith

There is a mass scheduled every Monday at the chapel in our office building. While the priests officiating the Monday mass vary, it’s always the same people who attend it. I was able to attend the mass today. The Chinese priest who gave the sermon talked about faith and how people should never let it get out of our system.

He gave example of a friend who had been looking for a boyfriend for a long time. She continuously prayed for it while serving God as member of the Legion of Mary and doing volunteer work on the side. One day she met her soul mate in the US during a volunteer work she was participating in. They’re going to get married in May. Her deep faith in God led her to the man of his dreams. The power of faith is really amazing and immeasurable. It applies to so many things other than finding love.

Girl Talks in Our Family

We’re only six in the family: four females and two males. Based on that figures, you could imagine how girl talks happen more frequently than boy’s. My two sisters and I maintain an open relationship with our mom. Whenever mom and dad visit us here in Manila (they’re based in Cavite), we’d chat everyday on just about anything and we’re never afraid to talk to our mom on any topic, may it be about the latest telenovela we’re hooked on and the best acne treatment available in the market today to the controversial RH bill and sex education. We’re happy to have a cool and open-minded mom who treats us not just as daughters but as friends.

Girl talks in our family are always interesting and fun. Actually, more often than not, these would eventually turn into family talks where every member (the two men included) get to participate. Our conversations are quite long, too. Sometimes they last for hours. It must be because we’ve been through a lot as a family. We’ve had our fair share of good and bad times. We’ve also been through a lot of ordeals that only strong families can overcome.

The 76th Monthsary

The boyfriend and I celebrated our 76th monthsary as couple silently yesterday. Time really flies. I never thought we’d last this long, and yet our days together are still counting. You know it when you and your lover have been together for so long already, people would start bugging you with the same question over and over again: when are you going to tie the knot? Our reply is always the same, too: soon. Haha.

Yes, we do have wedding plans already but the exact date (and everything about the wedding for that matter) are yet to be finalized. To be honest, my mind is preoccupied with a lot things right now that thinking about my own wedding is next to impossible. Good thing the boyfriend understands my situation. It must be because like me, he has a lot on his hands at present. Wedding can wait, right? I mean, it’s not like acne problems that need acne serums that work as immediate and permanent solution. Neither it is like a fancy ukay dress that you fell in love with at first sight and have to buy on the spot lest somebody will pick it up and pay for it. A wedding will definitely happen to couples that are destined to be with each other forever.

Goal No. 6: Think Positive

They say when you’re heart is filled with worries, you should think about positive thoughts. This way, positive energy will get in and balance out the negative energy in your system. I know I am surrounded with well-wishers, people like my loved ones and my true friends who support me in whatever I do and think about getting for myself. But sometimes, things can get scary like when suddenly you become clueless of what the outcome of something will be.

I can be very pessimistic. This year, I plan to get rid of this negative trait. I will work on becoming a positive thinker. I know this is quite hard especially for someone who’s been a negative thinker most of her life but what the heck, there’s no harm in trying. I better start now or remain like this forever.

Virlanie Foundation’s Dine to Smile Project

Do you love giving to charity? What if you could enjoy great food along with it, wouldn’t it be all the more fulfilling? Virlanie Foundation currently has a project dubbed as “Dine to Smile.” They partnered with restaurants to generate funds to help street children which has been their mission since their inception in 1992. I’m blogging about this now to help promote this notable project in my own little way and because one of the participating restaurants is La Cocina de Tita Moning where I work part-time as tour guide.
