My Guesting on ANC On the Money Show

UPDATE: I finally got a copy of the whole interview from ANC. Click here to watch it. Thank you. 🙂

Last May 23rd, I saw a comment from a certain ABS-CBN News Channel (ANC) staff on this blog post I wrote last May 6th. I also got the same message on my FB messenger. Apparently, ANC On The Money wanted me to guest on their show because of the said blog post. I initially wanted to decline the invitation as I was shy in person and I never thought I could do it. (I’m not even an RFP or someone who’s an authority on personal finance, so why me?) But the hubby convinced me otherwise. I later realized it was a once in a lifetime opportunity so I better give it a go or I’d regret it forever. Haha.

The taping of the episode where I guested in as a resource person happened on May 25th. I was presented as a blogger (of Life in Manila). I only had two days of preparation but I still did my best to answer the guide questions given to me via email on the evening of May 24th. Ngaragan lang ang peg, diba? But everything turned out just fine so thank you God and thank you to my prayer warriors (you know who you are)!!!

Going Loco Over CoCo, The Fresh Tea and Juice Brand

CoCo Fresh Tea and Juice (also known as CoCo Tea PH) is one of the leading brands in the freshly-made drinks industry with presence in China, Hong Kong, South East Asia, and the United States. They are known for their fresh fruit juices and tasty milk teas that are perfect as on-the-go drinks this summer and beyond.

Last night, I attended their Summer On-The-Go event that celebrated the soft launch of their SM City Manila store, their 5th branch in the Philippines. (I heard they first arrived here in 2013.) It was an evening filled with fun and excitement as people shared about their summer plans and eventually pledged for a better lifestyle. Who doesn’t want one, anyway? I, personally, am aiming for a more active and healthier lifestyle this 2015. And what better way to strengthen my commitment to that goal than to try drinking healthy, starting with CoCo’s interesting product line of teas and juices made from the freshest and the highest quality ingredients!

Custom Menu for My Blog

I tweaked this blog’s layout yesterday and came up with something smart and beautiful. If you’d notice in the menu above, I now have several items other than the old About, Blogroll and Privacy Policy pages. The additions include the following: Shopping Fast, Personal Finance, Weekend Stories, Frugal Finds and Cooking with Edel. They contain posts featuring those exact stuff or something related to them. I’ve seen many blogs with the same custom menu and I found it cool and interactive so I adopted the idea. Haha. In other blogs, these are what you’ll get when you click on the “Category” section.

This blog runs on WordPress (self-hosted) but uses a free WordPress theme. (I’ve yet to get a customized layout, but we’ll see about that in the future.) I was able to customize the menu easily after a little googling. What I did was I opened my dashboard, clicked the “Menu” under the “Appearance” section and added the menu links and titles one by one. Et voila, I now have a customized menu!

Why I Read Blogs

I’m a blogger and I write for my blogs. I think I have around ten, but I don’t get to write for them all regularly. I have other things to do, you know. Like reading other people’s blogs. Yes, I read a lot of blogs that are owned and maintained by various individuals.

You can say I love blog hopping. I really do. Whenever I still have free time online, I read blogs. I read blogs because it’s my way of getting inspiration. I’m always inspired by others through their blogs. I think it has something to do with how they write and how they see things and share them for all the internet world to know. I dunno with you but reading stories of strangers never fail to educate, enrich and entertain me as a person. Unlike other readers, though, I only leave comments depending on my mood at that time and only if the topic leaves a big impact on me.

Weekend Stories: It’s All Good

Last weekend was quite hectic but super fun. On Saturday, I did a special assignment in the office in the morning before attending the much-anticipated Blogapalooza event at Fully Booked Boni High in the afternoon. The former made me a bit tired but good thing the later brought back my energy with its festive atmosphere and cool surprises. Plus, I got to see a lot of my old and new blogger friends again.

When dinnertime came, I met up with the fiancee and we enjoyed Filipino food. Saturday was also the eve of our monthsary and so we stayed at this awesome hotel that lay in the heart of Manila. We wanted to jog the next morning (Sunday) but we weren’t able to do so because we woke up late. To make up for this, we decided to walk our way to our respective houses after checking out of the hotel.

Review: Belkin Home Router

When we got a new desktop at home a few weeks ago, the need for internet connection and a wifi router presented itself right after. I knew my brother already had a lot on his hands so I volunteered to shoulder the internet subscription fees as well as the expenses for the wifi router. We got our internet connection from PLDT thru its myDSL Plan P990. For the wifi requirement, I got a basic Belkin home router.

Belkin is an American wifi brand. I got our Belkin home router from Octagon-SM Manila for P1,995 (approx. $48). Compared to the other wifi routers in the market, I found Belkin’s design more sleek and stylish. It was a bit bulky, but I didn’t mind. It was gray in color and came with a CD installer and a free Belkin mouse (worth P400) when I bought it.
