All Saints Day 2013

It was our first time to visit our son’s grave on All Saints Day yesterday. I can’t exactly describe the mixed feelings I felt. I wanted be sad but somehow I managed to be cool and okay. After visiting the graves of our other departed loved ones and family friends in Makati and in Bacoor, I just busied myself at home for the rest of the day. I cooked, washed the dishes, read books, and played with our neighbor’s lovely kitten that likes to stay on her heated cat bed all the time. Okay, make that just a plain cat bed. But seriously, that kitten is so adorable and makes me think of having one in our home, too!

Watching the TV by nighttime proved to be a sort of treat. The news featured Filipinos from all walks of life visiting the graves of their departed loved ones at the many cemeteries of Metro Manila. Most of these cemeteries were jampacked with people and it really showed just how loving and thoughtful we are as a people.

Long Saturday

Yesterday being a Saturday was work-free for me, just like for the majority of government employees here in the Philippines. But just because it was work-free doesn’t mean it was gonna be laidback or boring. I actually had a long day. And so was the hubby.

After lunch at home, we attended the joint birthday celebration of our friends Mac and Ella’s two adorable children at West Avenue in QC. The theme was basketball and there was a minion mascot. There were food booths serving sweet and tasty treats to the delight of children and adults alike. The merienda/early dinner food from the buffet was great and the children had a happy time with the hilarious host who doubled as a fantastic yoyo master. I have to give credit to the parents for pulling off such a fab and fun party. (Thanks again for inviting us, guys!) We left the party at past 6pm and drove home to Bacoor.

Birthday Wishes

To the man I chose to marry, may you continue to work with me towards a beautiful marriage filled with love, respect, faith and commitment.

To the man I chose to be my life partner, may you continue to share my values, ideals, goals and dreams. Together, let’s live simply and meaningfully and without regrets. Let’s believe that just like in fairy tales, we’ll have our own happily-ever-after ending, too.

First of Many

One year ago today, the hubby and I experienced indescribable pain for the very first time. It was our first tragedy as a married couple. The reason? We lost our first baby. It’s the kind of pain that lingers with you even after the event has long passed. It’s the kind of pain that haunts you all the time. The sadness remains with you, deep inside your heart.

You can move on, alright, and let go of all the negative feelings. Yes, you can have your new normal, too. But the memories of that fateful day will stay in your head until you die. It’s ironic and somewhat funny because death was the cause and yet it’s also the one that’s gonna end it all, someday.

Gifts for my Godchildren

I only have a few godchildren, so few I can count them with just my right hand. It’s a different case with my husband. I think his number of godchildren is directly proportional to his age. Like, seriously. He’s 30+ and his godchildren are 30+, too. I can’t imagine all these kids knocking in our door all at the same time on Christmas Day. For sure, they won’t fit in our tiny house. Haha.

Back to my godchildren, one of them is a girl with special needs. Her name is Jazz and she’s the daughter of my bestfriend Mitch. While chatting with her mom last night, Mitch mentioned to me that Jazz likes singing a lot. She said she’d be in her best mood everytime she would bring out the mic and do videoke sessions with the rest of their family.

Cool Weekend

Last weekend was cool and quiet. It was very restful for the hubby and me. We indulged ourselves in sleep and food and TV. We only got out of the house to go to the mall on Saturday. We paid some bills, got some supplies from the supermarket and had dinner at our fave fastfood. Oh, I also found a nice shirt dress and impulsively bought it to the hubby’s surprise. Haha.

When we got home, we hanged out in our living room. I read my magazines (where I found out about the wonders of restaurant pagers used in restaurants in the US and Europe) while he watched TV. We slept late that night and woke up late as well the next day.
