Summer Plans

With the number of events we are organizing in the office from March to June, it seems that all my summer plans will either be cancelled or postponed to a later date. OMG, we are soooo busy these days!

But it’s okay. More work in the office means more opportunities to learn. More work in the office means stability. More work in the office means I am blessed with a job that pays.

Intention to Drive

After getting my student driver’s permit from the Land Transportation Office (LTO) a few weeks ago, I finally signed up for driving lessons at A1 Driving School last Sunday night. The branch I went to was the one at SM City Manila. I am scheduled to take orientation lectures this Saturday and driving proper next Saturday. I’m so excited and nervous at the same time!

What if I don’t learn how to drive at the end of my lessons? (It’s gonna be a waste of money!) What if I don’t get along with my driving instructor? (There’s a slim chance for this because I don’t bite naman.) I know they are just petty concerns but still, I’m a bit worried. I really want to learn how to drive a car, though. And if Edel wants, Edel gets. I can do this!

Short Patience or Long Patience?

I think I can have both. My patience is somehow stretchable depending on the situation I’m in or the entities involved. You could see me waiting patiently in one corner and you could see me getting anxious about something. Indeed, patience is a virtue that many people (myself included) can’t handle well at all times.

I have short patience when it comes to myself, activities, tasks and money-related issues. For instance, I can be very agitated about my pending tasks that I really have to finish doing them before the deadline so I could be at peace. On the other hand, I have long patience when it comes to people. Even if you are rude, inconsiderate, or worse, have attitude problem, I will try my best to understand you and deal with you with an open mind. Yes, no judgment. We could even be friends.

Year of the Pig Forecast for 2014

I was born in the year of the pig. I don’t know much about this and I don’t care much, either. Last Sunday, however, I got hold of a copy of the Star Week (the Sunday mag of the Philippine Star broadsheet) featuring the individual forecasts for the different animal signs under the Chinese zodiac.

While I don’t generally believe in predictions or astrologers for that matter, I thought reading what’s in store for me this year wouldn’t hurt. So I read it and found out some good “possibilities” and “realities” that may apply to me.

Learning Never Stops

When a learning opportunity presents itself, you just grab it. It doesn’t always come around, so you better take it. I just did this yesterday by deciding to attend a 3-day seminar on protocol, diplomatic etiquette and decorum. It’s related to my work, so why not? It didn’t hurt that it was free and all I needed to do was to attend and participate in it.

This year, I want to learn as many new things as I can. Instead of using my free time surfing the net looking for some pretty accessories or some used engine lathe for sale, I’d rather read a new book or cook a new dish. Or better yet, learn a new skill!

Stress and Priorities

They say, the simpler your life, the better. I super agree to this, more so if you lead a simple and stress-free life. I know I live a simple life, but stress-free? I think on most days, yes, but there are days when I can’t help getting stressed-out. Or maybe, I just feel exhausted and misinterpret it as stress? Haha.

But I realized stress is manageable. One of the factors that aggravate stress is the lack of organization. This is where priorities come into view. By knowing how to manage my priorities well, I can also control my stress levels. How cool is that?
