Lucky Chinatown Mall in Binondo

Last Friday night, the hubby and I braved the heavy rains so I could attend a food event at Lucky Chinatown Mall in Binondo. I would find out later that this newly-opened mall is run by Megaworld Corporation, the one that brought us Eastwood City at Libis, Quezon City and Venice Piazza at McKinley Hill, Taguig City. The mall is a five-storey shopping complex, complete with a supermarket, shops, cinema houses and parking spaces.

There’s no denying that the mall looks posh and decent, not to mention good-smelling. Personally, I liked the shops there, though most of them looked pricey to me. I think I saw some beauty bars and clothing stores, an SM Appliance Center and even an office supplies shop that sells nice desk grommets. As for restaurants, they have a clean-looking food court dotted with Chinese eateries (and with my fave Chicken Charlie, too!) as well as free-standing restaurants such as Chicken Bonchon, Italliani’s, The Red Crab Alimango House and Tao Yuan, among others.

Review: Cignal Digital TV

Four months ago, we applied for a cable subscription from Cignal. We decided on the P590 plan with a lock-in period of 12 months. There are only two cable providers in our subdivision then and we chose Cignal because of its cheaper rates and the fact that they provide some really nice HD channels already.

So far, we’re having a good cable TV viewing experience with Cignal. The HD channels (HBO HD, NBA Premium HD, Starworld HD, etc.) that come with our plan are really very clear. As for the non-HD channels, I’m okay with the not-so-clear screen so long as the line-up of shows are interesting. And it seems Cignal doesn’t disappoint on that part.

I guess our only complaint is that during heavy downpours, our cable signal disappears with the rain. Haha. That’s because Cignal utilizes satellite digital TV signals and not land-based ones.

New TV

Last July 17, my brother finally bought a new tv for the apartment where he lives along with my two other siblings and currently, with our visiting parents, too. It’s an LG 32″ LCD TV that came with a free DVD player at P17,000. Their old TV has been broken for several months (that’s how long they were TV-less!).

Well, I’m blogging about this because I’m just so proud of my brother for having acquired a new home appliance out of his own earnings. He’s getting more responsible each day! Actually, he also wanted to get some mounting brackets for tv but decided against it upon realizing it would just be an added cost to an already expensive purchase. Haha.

Grocery Shopping

It’s that time of the month again when I need to replenish the pantry supplies in our Bacoor home. I’m a little pressured because my mom suddenly decided to join us for the weekend along with my two younger sisters. She said she wants to see our new kitchen and spends some quality time with us. Fine. Haha.

Normally, our go-to place to shop for groceries is SM Bacoor. It’s just a 15-minute car ride from our place and the supermarket there is enormous and well-stocked. I liked it there as it looks clean and the cashiers at the counter are friendly. Oh, and those looking for barcode scanner online should take a second look at the bar code scanners used by these employees because they look sleek and high-tech. But I digress.

Online Shopping for Maternity Clothes

Last time I checked, I already gained 10 lbs since I found out I was pregnant. Wow, that (and the already noticeable bump!) should explain why I feel unusually heavy these days. Actually, a lot of my pre-pregnancy clothes don’t fit me anymore. Bummer.

Meanwhile, I have started wearing dresses in the office this week and I liked it. Even I, myself, was surprised. I initially planned to avoid wearing maternity dresses all throughout my pregnancy but it seems I had a major shift in perspective.

Investing on Luxury Furniture

Our Bacoor home, despite its small size, is slowly turning into a lovely dwelling for a small family like we have at present. Home improvement projects really do wonders to a home. As I’ve mentioned in my past blogs, our back extension, which we had improved recently, now serves as our kitchen. It’s tiny, but it has all the basics a homemaker wannabe like me needs.

For our next home improvement project, we plan to focus on our living room. If we’d have enough resources this year, we want to invest on luxury furniture. Not something overly expensive, though. We just want something sturdy and beautiful that would last us for years. It’s gonna be worth the money, right? Like one of those Marge carson sofas I saw online the other day. I can imagine it to be perfect for our tiny living room. Yes, our home furnishings have to be small for them to fit in our tiny living space.
