Weekend Story: Gardening with the Mabalays

Last weekend was quiet and chill. I started Saturday by giving Jasper (the friendly dog) a bath. (He gets a bath every Saturday morning, provided I got enough sleep the night before, hehe.) Mame and I went to the palengke right after. We would then go to church, along with the hubby and my SIL Albie, in the afternoon to hear the anticipated mass.

On Sunday, the hubby and I drove my sister Jodie to her dorm. She opted for this arrangement because she hasn’t adjusted to the Bacoor-Manila-Bacoor commuting situation yet. We were also with Mame and my SIL. Mame wanted to take a look at her youngest child’s dorm kasi. Si SIL naman, nagkaroon ng stroke scare kaya sugod sila ni hubby sa St. Luke’s QC! Buti na lang, false alarm pala. Apparently, it was just a frozen shoulder (thank God!). We would then go back to Bacoor in the afternoon without Jodie but with my brother Dan because I asked him to buy some plant pots in Divisoria for our gardening session later.

Weekend Story: My Parents’ 35th Wedding Anniversary Celebration + Bonding Time with My Godchildren

Last weekend was quite busy. The hubby and I drove to Manila on Saturday to finish some errands and that night, we hosted a dinner at home to celebrate the 35th wedding anniversary of my parents. To make it more fun, I asked my two godchildren and the usual suspects (a.k.a. their families) to come because they weren’t able to visit me on Christmas Day. We also invited some neighbors and of course, our new neighbors, haha. Because of the tight sched, I wasn’t able to prepare anything edible and so I just had food delivered to our house. We also dropped by S&R Baclaran to pick up some cake and ice cream for desserts. It turned out to be a beautiful night filled with chatter and laughter.

Weekend Story: Christmas 2018 and New Year 2019 Celebrations

The past holidays were quite special and memorable for us because of a number of reasons. To start off, for the first time in our married life, the hubby and I spent Christmas with my in-laws. Our arrangement (since 2012 when we got married) is that we do Christmas with my family in our Naic home and New Year with our two families in our Bacoor home. The Christmas set up changed this year because our Bacoor house is now the only place my in-laws can call home in Luzon. My family, on the other hand, is about to transfer in Bacoor, too, and so they opted to spend Christmas at my siblings’ place in Manila for old times’ sake.

Weekend Story: TAP Cavite Chapter Christmas Party + Quick Trip to our Naic Home

Last weekend was quite busy. The hubby and I were helping our new neighbors to move stuff. On Saturday, the hubby and I, along with my father, drove to our Naic home to pick up some furnishings to be brought to Bacoor. We also did some cleaning at the new house in preparation for the big move. We were quite exhausted but you know, family comes first. I think we only got to unwind when we attended the Christmas party of the hubby’s car club (Cavite Chapter only, this time) held at Musikapihan in Imus. I liked the place, the food, and of course, the company. I met this happy couple (the guy is a new member of the car club) and we chatted a bit about life in general. They were nice and I would love to see them again in the car club’s next events.

Weekend Story: Moving Tasks + Hospital Duties

Last weekend was spent packing and moving stuff. The hubby and I, along with my side of the family, also got busy attending to Mame’s needs in the hospital. She had a bad fall while taking a bath on Thursday morning and complained of intense back pain after, so we rushed her to the ER of Manila Doctors Hospital at Ermita. Apparently, she had a spine compression fracture and the ER doctor recommended that she get admitted in the hospital for pain management. She had an option for a surgery (kyphoplasty) for faster recovery but she declined (we supported her decision) upon knowing that the compression would heal on its own naman. She stayed in the hospital until Sunday afternoon and was prescribed more pain meds. She’s fine now and the pain is quite tolerable already but she’ll be back in the hospital for follow up check-ups next week.

Weekend Story: Bonding with my Parents + My First Pair of Converse Shoes

I dream of a time when I could date my parents every week. I have always believed that family always comes first and that just spending time with them is one of the happiest and most worthwhile things I could do in life. That’s why I’m glad I got to spend the weekend with my parents. The hubby and I drove to Bacoor with them on Friday night, right after we had family dinner at a Chinese restaurant to celebrate Edwin’s 39th birthday.

Our weekend turned out to be fun and as laidback as it should be except for the side pasyal to BiƱan City in Laguna on Saturday afternoon to visit my aunt and my two cousins (one of them is an OFW who has just come back from Bahrain for a short vacation). After catching up with just my aunt because my cousins had previous commitments, we took home some pasalubongs. It was getting late so we had a stop over at Nuvali in Sta. Rosa City to have dinner pa pala. Banapple was my personal choice because I only get to taste their popular banoffie pie whenever I’m in the area. Haha.
