Weekend Story: Rest and Recreation + Tagaytay Meetup with Relatives

Last weekend was relaxing and fun! I had a restful Saturday (I slept until 1:00 p.m.) and on Sunday, the hubby and I drove up to Tagaytay to meet up with my aunts and cousins from my father’s side. My mom was with them (two of my aunts are her BFFs!) so we were able to see her, too.

If there’s something that a balikbayan wants to do upon setting foot again in his/her motherland, that’s to touch base with his/her relatives and friends. I was glad that my balikbayan aunt Laura (she’s my dad’s first cousin) did just that and also went out of her way to see places she had missed most while abroad. One of those places was Tagaytay and so yesterday, she went there with her group and invited us over. She even brought her two nieces (my second cousins) along so I could meet them. They would be coming from Sta. Rosa City in Laguna where she currently stays at her two nieces’ place.

Weekend Story: Breezy Saturday and Busy Sunday

Every weekend is different. Every weekend is special. I always envision my weekends to be different and special. Isn’t it amazing that we all get seven days a week and that most of us have two days (out of the seven) to rest from work and just do the things we love? I know some of you work on Saturday or Sunday (I sometimes do, too), but you get the point.

I mentioned that my Saturday was breezy because it was relaxed and cheery. I woke up late while the hubby went to grad school and came back not until 5:00 p.m. We were still in Manila so I prepared my own breakfast. I also reheated some cooked dishes from the freezer because the hubby always goes home for lunch.

Weekend Story: Malling and Some Good Finds

While we were able to go home in Bacoor last weekend, we were not able to maximize our stay there. Our weekend was mostly spent malling. The hubby and I both had things to buy and we were happy we found them after visiting two different malls (SM Southmall and Alabang Town Center). Haha.

On Saturday morning, we drove our parents to Naic, Cavite where my family (including the hubby and I) is spending Christmas together. We then headed straight to Bacoor after. By 5:00 p.m., we braved the traffic and went to SM Southmall. My only mission was to go to Uniqlo and buy a pair of pants in my size and preferred color. I’ve been to two Uniqlo branches before this trip and didn’t find what I was looking for. I got lucky this time because it’s available at Uniqlo SM Southmall!

Weekend Story: Makati Trips with Family (Hole in the Wall and Landmark)

Last weekend was spent entirely in Manila. I have an explanation for this — I had to do some Christmas shopping! Plus, the hubby had to attend two Christmas parties (school and office) on Saturday. I even thought I wouldn’t be able to spend time with him on Saturday but fortunately, his schedule suddenly freed up by nighttime. We took advantage of the opportunity and went to Hole in the Wall with my SIL and my brother Danison.

Hole in the Wall is this new foodie destination housed inside Century City Mall on Kalayaan Avenue in Makati. It’s like a big food court, but the posh and cozy kind. It was really spacious we didn’t have a hard time finding a table despite the big crowd during our visit. I heard they’ve just opened recently and so there were only several restaurants serving the diners that night.

Weekend Story: Pampering Session, Solaire Casino and Quick Home Visit

Last weekend was short but sweet. My Saturday was spent through a pampering session with Mame and my sister Jodie at this cozy, little salon in Makati called Edwin Lisa Salon. Well, it’s more like we just had our hair fixed there and we got very satisfied with the results. You may read more about our experience and see our hair makeovers here.

The hubby and I, on our way to Bacoor, stopped over at Solaire Resort and Casino. We wanted to try our luck at the casino by playing roulette. We don’t know much about the game; we just know about its “color betting” feature. That is, placing bets on the red or the black could win us the same amount as our bet. Easy to understand, right?

Weekend Story: Alabang Stroll with Friends

Somehow, I felt that last weekend was kinda short (bitin in Filipino slang). On Saturday night, the hubby and I along with our two good friends Nice and Melay drove to Alabang for a stroll before going home in Bacoor.

First, we dropped by Alabang Town Center (ATC) to have my phone battery replaced. It was free of charge because the battery was part of a batch being recalled for safety-related defects. We got my phone back the next day (kudos to the Switch team for the fast service!).
