Cool Birthday Gift Ideas, Anyone?

Birthdays are always an opportune time to shower our loved ones with attention and love. Different people have different ways of making the birthday celebrant feel extra special on his natal day. While some show their thoughtfulness by throwing a surprise party, others give the coolest birthday gift. In our family, birthdays are celebrated simply and intimately. If we have the funds, we throw a party (not necessarily a surprise one, though) and when there is budget constraints, we just think of the perfect birthday gift.

Today is my sister N’s birthday. She’s now 20 years old. She’s a simple girl with a golden heart. I was thinking of getting her a new watch as birthday present. But then I realized she already have a few watches that she doesn’t even get to wear them all. Now I’m wondering if a funny t-shirt from foulmouthshirts.com would do since she’s also a funny girl and is very easy to please. Hmmm, why not?

A Weekend Trip

This weekend, my family and I will venture in an out-of-town trip to Nueva Ecija to attend the burial ceremonies for my deceased aunt. Sad as we should be, we are also excited to see my cousins. If I’m not mistaken, the last time I saw them complete (all eight of them!) was during my grandparents’s funeral. Again, it’s gonna be a mini-reunion for us just like what happened during the funeral of my other aunt two weeks ago.

And since we’re going to the province, I planned to buy some kalamay (a native delicacy made from glutinous rice and coconut milk) and pastillas from our fave stop-over pasalubong store in Bulacan. I miss these kinds of food and I can no longer wait for All Saints Day (when we normally get them as we visit our grandparents’s graves in the province) to come just to taste them again. If I’d gain weight from eating them (which is as sure as the setting of the sun), I guess exploring some quick weight loss austin ideas would help me get back on track immediately.

It’s His Birthday!

Remember when I said October was such a heavy month for us when it came to celebrations? I wasn’t kidding. In fact, the celebration has officially begun. It’s the fiancé’s birthday today! I wanted to be the first to greet him a happy birthday so I stayed in his room until midnight. We were both tinkering with our laptops and minding our own businesses but when the clock struck 12, I just had to stop to greet him and give him hugs and kisses. Haha.

I can’t believe he’s 32 already (he’s four years my senior). How time flies! I’m happy to know that as he ages, his level of maturity and his sense of responsibility improve, too. He’s been such a loving, caring, nurturing, sweet, kind and patient fiancé to me. I really can’t ask for more. In our relationship, he’s the giver and I’m the taker most of the time. I guess it’s because of our age gap. Nonetheless, we get along very well and we love each other’s families. No counting of shortcomings and misgivings, just sharing pure and faithful love.

Yet Another Sad News

Two weeks after the passing of my Tita Lolit, we received yet another sad news from a cousin last night. Another sister of my father has died from stroke complications. She had been bed-ridden for months before breathing her last yesterday afternoon at the confines of her house in Muñoz City, Nueva Ecija. We are grieving at the moment because this happened to be a double blow in our clan.

Death is inevitable. You never know when it will strike you or someone you love. Sabi nga nila, una-una lang yan. Death may come fast and leave faster, but the pain and sorrow it brings can last years and for some, even a lifetime. I feel for the family of my Tita Bebe. I can’t imagine losing my parents myself. Though I don’t have too many memories of my aunt, her passing still saddens me.

My Wait for Christmas Bonus Starts Now

Catching a glimpse of my wallet this morning, thoughts of receiving Christmas bonuses from various sources flooded my mind. At work, we normally get our 13th month pay in November and the extra bonus in December, a few days before Christmas. I’m happy to know that this year, I’m not the only one receiving a bonus in our family. My brother D, who works as a teacher in a private Chinese school, is getting his share, too!

Have you started shopping for Christmas presents? Me, not yet. But I think I might join my brother in going to Divisoria soon to shop at the popular night market there. I miss shopping with him. Unlike other guys that dread shopping places, my brother enjoys shopping as much as I do. Shopping is actually a great bonding activity for us.

My IPL Laser Underarm Hair Removal Experience at La Estetica (Fourth Session)

After a two-week delay, I finally got my fourth IPL laser underarm hair removal treatment from La Estetica-Tomas Morato branch. As I still had two vouchers left and both are expiring this month, I thought of giving the other voucher to my sister J. We went to the clinic yesterday afternoon and we were finished in no time.

So far, I have observed that my underarms now have less and finer hair. My underarm hair used to be on the thick side, you know. They may be far from being hairless, but I can say I’m quite satisfied with the changes. I plan to buy new IPL vouchers but will choose a different clinic because I want to get more laser clicks. While my first IPL session from a different beauty clinic gave me several clicks per underarms, La Estetica during my second, third and fourth session only gave me four clicks each. As with most of you, I also want to get full value for my money.
