Home and Design Blogs

Aside from lifestyle and food blogs, reading home and design blogs never fails to make me feel good. Actually, they inspire me. Inspiration, that’s the operative word. Looking at newly made-over rooms, effortlessly beautiful spaces, pieces of furniture that were modified to create new looks for the home, DIY projects, arts and crafts, and other design inspirations gives me a high (the good kind, of course!). These blogs make me want to do exactly what they’re doing to their homes to my own home. If only my space is as lovely as theirs, or I’m as rich or as creative as they are.

But I’m not. I will have to save up money first before venturing in a home improvement project. With our finances right now, I can’t just buy new items to add to our house. You know what I just do? I make a list of the things I wanna copy or adapt from so that when the time comes that I already have the resources to use in my projects (DIY or otherwise), I can easily plan and make my move. Isn’t that smart? Haha.

Getting Back My Passion for Reading

Last year, as much as I wanted to read books, I have only read a few and this was mostly during my maternity leave when I got stuck at home doing nothing. I have to admit I missed reading books, the real ones, if I may add. I used to read e-books and in fact, I still do, but there’s something about real books that make them more enjoyable to read.

I dunno but recently, I’ve felt that I wanted to spend my free time (at night and during weekends) reading real books at home. I suddenly missed turning pages, staring at texts, imagining the characters in my head, and feeling the book in my hands as if it was part of my existence. I suddenly missed reading. And now, I feel like acquiring books, though not necessarily new ones because pre-owned books are just as interesting.

Frugal Forever

In my almost 30 years of existence on earth, I see myself as more of a frugal than a spendthrift. Yes, I splurge sometimes but even if I do, I still set a limit to my spending. I know I’m not filthy rich nor a money-making machine so I really try to manage my finances well.

I want to be frugal forever. One who knows how to save money and spends it wisely, too. I’d like to start the year with a clean slate, money wise. I know there’d be temptations every now and then, but I’ll make sure to deal with them like a mature person.

Done with the GM Diet!

My GM Diet Day-by-Day Account: Day 1, Day 2, Day 3, Day 4, Day 5, Day 6, and Day 7

My 7-day diet challenge a.k.a. my diet experience with the popular GM Diet finally came to an end yesterday. When I hit the bathroom scale this morning with an empty stomach, I registered a weight of 132 lbs. This means that I was able to lose another pound from my weight yesterday of 133 lbs. I’m so happy to announce I have lost a total of 7 lbs. in seven days!

Aside from smaller tummy, my family and friends noticed my face became firmer and smaller, too. That, or they just love me. The hubby, on the other hand, noticed that my arms got smaller and my curves are starting to show again. Haha. Now, that’s a great compliment to hear from the love of my life! Personally, I feel a lot better now, inside and out. And unlike them, I don’t just see the changes the 7-lb. lost did to my body, I can also feel them.

On a Diet, Seriously

I’ve realized weekends make me forget about dieting. You know, when I’m stuck at home and work is temporarily non-existent, all I wanna do is to cook, cook, cook and eat, eat, eat. It makes me forget that I’ve been meaning to lose my pre-pregnancy weight for months now.

To remind myself about losing weight, I made a monitoring sheet in an Excel file which I now update daily. Yes, daily. So I don’t forget. I stand on top of the weighing scale every weekday morning and get my weight. It’s my way of knowing if I gained or not. So smart, right? Haha.

Passion for Reading

My sister O is growing to be a voracious reader. She’s 19 years old at present and her passion for reading is quite intense, especially nowadays when her access to numerous free e-books are made possible by the internet (hello torrent downloads!). While she likes to read both fiction and non-fiction books, I think she prefers those romance novels that get adapted into films more.

I remember one time she tried to get herself a sort of ereader at the source for her small collection of e-books, only to find out later that she could just make use of her phone for the same purpose. I mean, she has a nice phone that opens PDF files and more. I’m happy that she really finds ways to make the most of her reading experience.
