Weekend Story: Laundry Day Saturday and Mother’s Day Sunday

The hubby and I were supposed to go home in Bacoor as early as Friday night last weekend. I was, however, asked by Mame and my sister Jodie to accompany them to the doctor on Saturday morning. They weren’t sick, though. They just wanted to have a check-up with a dermatologist for possible treatment of facial warts.

When Saturday came, Jodie got lazy to get up early and Mame suddenly asked to cancel our lakad at the last minute. I was a bit upset because they wasted my time but when Mame told me she’d join us in Bacoor and celebrate Mother’s Day with me, my disappointment went away.

Weekend Story: Crazy Busy Long Weekend

I didn’t expect that last weekend would be a crazy busy long one. Of course, I looked forward to the holiday which gave me an extra day to enjoy. But the summer heat was unforgiving and the hubby and I were out almost the entire long weekend doing things for ourselves, our family, and our friends. It was a hectic schedule but thank God we managed to do everything and still had fun in the process.

On Friday, the hubby and I, along with Mame, attended the christening of my newest godchild baby Yñigo Paulo, the son of my first cousin Mark. It was held at 11AM at the peaceful St. Arnold Janssen Shrine in Taytay, Rizal. Reception followed at Tender Joe’s Rancho Grill located beside a gas station along the highway, just a few blocks from the shrine.

Weekend Story: Two Birthday Parties, One Long Lunch, and My BookSale Haul

Getting to Bacoor on a Friday night has been our routine the past weekends. The hubby and I are enjoying his break at graduate school while it lasts. Last weekend was no exception. We left Manila at past 8PM (to avoid traffic) and reached Bacoor in less than an hour.

It was great to see our home again despite the massive amount of dust covering our tiny balcony. I heard it came from the ongoing construction at the new village next to ours. No biggie as it was something the hubby wouldn’t mind cleaning up the next day.

Weekend Story: Midnight Mercato + Two House Guests + Bonding at Home

With the hubby still enjoying his sem break at graduate school, we now get to go home in Bacoor on Friday nights. Like last weekend, for instance. But instead of just the two us going home, we had two guests whom we fetched from Market, Market in Taguig City.

Our Bohol-based friend Jan2x (one of the family friends we saw during our short vacation in Bohol last month) and his girl student Damecess were here in Manila for the National Schools Press Conference 2015 which was held in that city last week. We found out that she placed 6th in the Photo Journalism – English category and so we decided to celebrate it by treating them to a late dinner at Midnight Mercato.

Weekend Story: Slow Saturday and Whatta Sunday

We had quite a long weekend. Long, in the sense that, the passing of time felt so slow on Saturday. Or so I assumed. It was the opposite on Sunday, though. The hubby and I got too busy with some activities that before we knew it, it was time to go to bed already.

We stayed in Manila because the hubby had to go on an overnight trip with his masteral class. It was like their field trip cum summer outing. He left on Saturday morning and I got sick the night before. It was just a slight fever (37.6°C) and a few hours after taking a Tempra Forte tablet, I got well already (36.4°C). The cause of my slight fever? Body pains from excessive exercise (zumba + walking) last holiday! Yes, I learned my lesson the hard way. Ouch.

Weekend Story: Lent Observance + Lots of Family Bonding

How was your long weekend, friends? I hope you all had a wonderful time. The recent Holy Week gave the hubby and I ample time to spend with our family so that was exactly what we did. Of course, there were the usual moments of reflection and the observance of some religious traditions. All these and more have made our long weekend fun and meaningful at the same time.

Please be warned that this post contains more photos than usual.

On Maundy Thursday, the hubby and I, along with Mame, did the traditional Visita Iglesia. As what has been our practice, we visited seven churches (two stations per church to complete the 14 Stations of the Cross). We joined the huge crowd composed of people from all walks of life in getting from one church to another. We started early at around 8:30AM. The weather was a bit cooperative that time (read: shady with some short bursts of sunshine) so we enjoyed the long walk.
