Weekend Story: Bad Weather, Good Company

How are you, dearies? (Oh diba, feeling maraming readers lang, hahaha!) I hope you guys are safe and coping just fine to the effects of typhoon Lando. Kakatamad pumasok sa work, noh? Haaaaay…

Last weekend was okay. The hubby and I drove home in Bacoor on Saturday afternoon right after attending his classes (his last for this sem, yey!). We dealt with the bad weather calmly and went on to enjoy each other’s company at home.

Weekend Story: SIL’s Visit + Neil’s Kitchen in Alabang

My one and only SIL Albie joined us last weekend in Bacoor. She said she wanted to try this resto in Alabang famous for its gourmet food. I knew she was referring to Neil’s Kitchen and because the hubby and I wanted to try it also, we agreed to spend the weekend together.

We drove home in Bacoor on Saturday afternoon right after having lunch at The Patio, the new restaurant of La Cocina de Tita Moning (LCDTM). As the name suggests, it’s located at the patio area of the property where LCDTM stands. It’s actually the affordable version of LCDTM catering to students and yuppies around the area.

Weekend Story: Zark’s Burgers + Homecooking + Brisk Walking

Last long weekend, we had two house guests in Bacoor – my brother Danison and my SIL Albie. We all left Manila for Bacoor on Saturday afternoon. We also had a quick trip to Switch- The Archer’s Place branch on Taft Avenue-La Salle to pick up the hubby’s iPhone 6 replacement unit. His old one’s front cam had pink lines appearing on the screen so he took it to Switch for check-up and repair two weeks ago. It turned out that the pink lines were a defect and since the phone was still under warranty, it underwent a test and the result said it was qualified for a replacement.

While at the Switch shop, I remembered the original branch of Zark’s Burgers was just around the area and immediately asked my three companions to go there for merienda after. It was our first time to try their burger and we were very satisfied with our individual orders. I had Shaq (Php135) from the Minor League burger line-up and it had two of my fave things: crispy bacon and deep-fried onion strings. By adding Php35, I already got fries and drinks to go with my very delicious and meaty burger (the raves online about Zark’s Burgers are indeed true!). Good deal, right?

Weekend Story: Lots of Rest and Quiet Time

Weekends are full of surprises. This is especially true if it’s a long weekend. The hubby and I were already in Bacoor as early as Thursday night. Of course, we were excited over this 3-day break! Despite the continued heavy rains coupled with strong winds, the hubby and I were able to go out to do some errands, work on his thesis, and visit the wake of a friend’s mother.

On Thursday night, I made some ice cream using ripe avocados from my FIL’s own tree. It turned out to be so good for a dessert/snack that leaving some for our family in Manila was a hard thing to do. (Don’t worry, we ended up leaving some for them in the name of love.) Haha.

Weekend Story: Staycation + Husband and Wife Duties

Last weekend was all about staying home and division of labor. (I call it husband and wife duties.) We just made the most of our time (like we always do) and enjoyed our humble abode in the suburbs.

On Saturday, I went to SM Manila and tagged Mame along. I just needed to finish some errands and when I was done, I took Mame to Jollibee where we shared some langhap sarap moments. I really make it a point to date my mom whenever my schedule permits. Inspired by Brother Bo Sanchez, one of my dreams is to date my parents weekly. One day, it will come true!

Weekend Story: Bonding with My Brother Over Food and Childhood Stories

Last weekend was still about family bonding. My brother Danison suddenly decided to join the hubby and I in Bacoor. He said he wanted to finish his lesson plan while enjoying a different environment. He also asked me if we could make some homemade pastillas and I said yes in a heartbeat. I still had some supplies at home so I thought it was possible.

After the hubby’s classes, he still had to drop by their office to render some overtime work because they were having network problems. Because of this, we left for Bacoor later than usual.
