New Electric Mixer

I’ve finally bought an electric mixer last week. It’s a Marubishi 5-Speed Stand Mixer MHM-505 which I got for P990 from Lazada, a local shopping site. This purchase was a gamble because 1) I don’t know the brand and 2) I don’t know if the appliance is durable or not. It was also my first time to shop at Lazada and I had no idea about their service until this transaction (which turned out to be okay naman).

Anyway, I plan to use my new electric mixer this weekend! I’m quite excited because I was doing the mixing manually in my past baking experiments. (Yes, I’m that frugal.) If you’re following this blog, you may have seen pictures of them before. So far, I’ve already baked banana cake, brownies, chocolate cake and red velvet cake. With this new addition to my baking arsenal, I can already imagine happier baking days!

Setting Up a Budget for Christmas Shopping

I’ve always believed in budgeting. Setting up a budget may be easy, but sticking to it is hard. When shopping for Christmas, it is very important to allot a particular budget so you don’t overspend, or worse, don’t get to buy all the items in your gift list.

Compared with last year’s budget, I have less money to spend for Christmas gifts this year. Why? Because 2013 is the year we vowed to reduce our debts, and I think we succeeded in doing so though we still have to clear out a few more next year. This means I will have to rely on my expertise when it comes to budget shopping. Haha.

The Golden Rule

Do not do unto others what you don’t want others to do unto you. This is such an easy rule to understand, but it’s very hard to obey and live by. In my thirty years of existence on earth, I have come to realize that the golden rule is a tough rule. I have obeyed and disobeyed it countless times. It’s a shame I can still talk about it.

I dunno with you, but I still believe in this rule. I still think it’s doable. I still think that if more people get to practice this rule, the world will be a better place. Less chaos, less hatred, less injustice, less prejudice. More order, more love, more justice and more understanding.

Barangay Elections 2013

The barangay elections in our side of town have ended peacefully today. I’m glad to have had the chance to vote with my two siblings. It was my second time. We arrived at our designated poll precincts a little past 1pm. I heard voting would officially close at 3pm and it did.

By the time we went home, I immediately turned on the TV and got glued on the news. There were still some voting issues and concerns that cropped up (as usual), unfortunately. I’m not sure but I think I heard there were some unsecured ballot boxes reported somewhere in QC. The election officials should really consider using some Military Foot Locker to secure the people’s votes. Haha. Seriously, I can only hope things will get better in the future.

Long Saturday

Yesterday being a Saturday was work-free for me, just like for the majority of government employees here in the Philippines. But just because it was work-free doesn’t mean it was gonna be laidback or boring. I actually had a long day. And so was the hubby.

After lunch at home, we attended the joint birthday celebration of our friends Mac and Ella’s two adorable children at West Avenue in QC. The theme was basketball and there was a minion mascot. There were food booths serving sweet and tasty treats to the delight of children and adults alike. The merienda/early dinner food from the buffet was great and the children had a happy time with the hilarious host who doubled as a fantastic yoyo master. I have to give credit to the parents for pulling off such a fab and fun party. (Thanks again for inviting us, guys!) We left the party at past 6pm and drove home to Bacoor.

Fashion Find: Big Clutches

I once read from a fashion mag that dresses are best paired with clutches. After seeing a lot of stylish women donning dresses and with clutches on their hands, I started to accept this fashion combination. This becomes more relevant when you’re attending an event and you suddenly decide to wear a cocktail dress (for a party) or an evening gown (for a formal gathering). Clutches are your perfect accessory there.

While a lot of girls prefer small clutches, I like big clutches more than them. I find big clutches stylish, fun and functional. I remember my first big clutch was a red one from Mango. It was plain and with very simple design. I still loved it, though, because of its color. It would instantly brighten my outfit and keep my essential stuff safe and secure when I would be out in malls or to some casual events.
