Weekend Story: Stella Wood Fired Bistro, Midnight Mercato, Willow Jewelry, and Two Lady House Guests

We were supposed to have three lady house guests last weekend but only two (Ivy and Rona) showed up. The other one (Edlyn) got stuck with parental duties to two daughters who are big fans of One Direction. (If you know about the big concert at Mall of Asia complex last Saturday night, then you’d know what I mean by that.) Family should always come first and we fully understand that.

Before we went home in Bacoor, the hubby and I, along with Ivy whom we picked up from a 7-Eleven near her house, had dinner at Stella Wood Fired Bistro in BGC. It was a fantastic dinner of whole roasted chicken, Spanish and chorizo rice, some roasted pumpkin, and special lasagna.

Some Frugal Living Tips

“Living frugally allows you to live richly in ways that you choose.” ~Anonymous

2014 turned out to be a very positive and enlightening year for the hubby and me. It was the time when we took our finances more seriously. We started investing directly in the stock market in July and when November came, we opened a UITF account at a local bank.

While modifying our allocations for this month’s budget in my desktop, I thought about sharing some frugal living tips here in the blog. These are practices that the hubby and I try to do consistently to save money and live a simple but fun married life.

Weekend Story: Ordinary but Never Boring

With the hubby attending classes at graduate school on Saturdays, I get to have more time in my hands to sleep longer and bond more with family members who live just across the street. It’s fun and I’m enjoying every minute of it. This temporary setup makes me happy.

Like last Saturday, for instance. I woke up late again and after having breakfast, I started reading this book titled “The Happiness Project” by Gretchen Rubin. (I have the e-book version, though.) It’s a nice book where the author herself talks about her own happiness project. She’s already happy but she wants to be “happier.” At first I thought she was weird, wanting to be happier and all, but as I continued reading, I found myself relating to her stories more and more. I like that she’s a smart lady and the book is peppered with a lot of facts based from various studies as well as quotes from the authors and philosophers that she looks up to.

Weekend Story: Rest and Recreation + Tagaytay Meetup with Relatives

Last weekend was relaxing and fun! I had a restful Saturday (I slept until 1:00 p.m.) and on Sunday, the hubby and I drove up to Tagaytay to meet up with my aunts and cousins from my father’s side. My mom was with them (two of my aunts are her BFFs!) so we were able to see her, too.

If there’s something that a balikbayan wants to do upon setting foot again in his/her motherland, that’s to touch base with his/her relatives and friends. I was glad that my balikbayan aunt Laura (she’s my dad’s first cousin) did just that and also went out of her way to see places she had missed most while abroad. One of those places was Tagaytay and so yesterday, she went there with her group and invited us over. She even brought her two nieces (my second cousins) along so I could meet them. They would be coming from Sta. Rosa City in Laguna where she currently stays at her two nieces’ place.

Weekend Story: Breezy Saturday and Busy Sunday

Every weekend is different. Every weekend is special. I always envision my weekends to be different and special. Isn’t it amazing that we all get seven days a week and that most of us have two days (out of the seven) to rest from work and just do the things we love? I know some of you work on Saturday or Sunday (I sometimes do, too), but you get the point.

I mentioned that my Saturday was breezy because it was relaxed and cheery. I woke up late while the hubby went to grad school and came back not until 5:00 p.m. We were still in Manila so I prepared my own breakfast. I also reheated some cooked dishes from the freezer because the hubby always goes home for lunch.

Weekend Story: Meetup with a Blogger Friend + Beauty and the Beast + Work on Sunday Night

Last weekend was quite productive and fun at the same time. I got to rest and unwind on Saturday while Sunday was spent mostly at home and at work (at the restaurant).

As the title of this post suggests, there were three highlights to my weekend. First was when I finally met Jerellt in person on Saturday afternoon at Robinsons Manila. She’s the food and travel blogger behind Je’s Anatomy. I won in the recent giveaway she hosted in her blog and the meetup was planned primarily so I could claim my prize.
