Weekend Story: Pope Francis and Family Bonding

Last long weekend can be aptly called the Papal weekend. The apostolic visit of Pope Francis to the Philippines was phenomenal, a once in a lifetime opportunity that’s filled with happy memories for our country and our people.

On Saturday night, the hubby and I fetched my in-laws at Mall of Asia (MOA). After that, we had a quick dinner at Solaire’s food court upon my recommendation. It was their first time there and I was glad they liked the food. Except for that meetup, we hadn’t left the house and were just glued to the TV screen all throughout that memorable weekend.

Weekend Story: In Sickness and In Health

I felt that last weekend was too short for a break from work. Maybe it’s due to the fact that I’ve been sick since Monday and I was actually looking forward to a long rest come weekend. Well, I did get enough rest on Sunday but it wasn’t enough for me to get rid of my nasty dry cough. I now feel better, though, as compared to last week.

On Saturday, the hubby went to graduate school while I overslept. When evening came, we had dinner at my PILs’ place and heard the anticipated mass at our neighborhood parish before hitting the road. We reached our Bacoor home at past 8:00 p.m. Early bedtime for us.

Weekend Story: New Godchild, The Maze Runner and Sundate with Family

I only have a few godchildren. I’m not a “mabentang Ninang” like some people I know. But last Saturday, the universe conspired and made me a godmother again. Meet Eliana Jermaine, my newest godchild! She’s the daughter of my officemate Jerry and she was baptized at the Our Lady of Assumption Church in Malate, Manila. Isn’t she a cutie?

After my godmother duty, the hubby and I already drove home in Bacoor. That night, we watched this movie titled “The Maze Runner” on TV via USB. It’s a good movie with powerful acting and unpredictable plot. We enjoyed it so much we’re already looking forward to the next installment. I heard it’s a trilogy and the second movie will be released September of next year.

Weekend Story: Alone and Productive

The hubby went on a field trip slash bonding activity with his masteral group last weekend. It was a 2D 1N kind of event so we weren’t able to go home in Bacoor. I was left in Manila at my PILs’ place the entire weekend until the hubby got back from Subic on Sunday night.

Since the place where my siblings (and parents) currently reside in is just across the street from my PILs’ house, I spent most of my Saturday there. I was able to eat less, too, primarily because I didn’t have the hubby with me. But no, it wasn’t because I got emotional and missed him terribly (though I have to admit I missed him a bit!), it was just that he has a big appetite and he tends to influence me to overeat. Haha.

Weekend Story: Anniv Date and Quiet Sunday

Last weekend was kinda special because it was our 10th anniversary as couple. (We started dating and became steady in 2004.) The actual date is October 18th and we celebrated it through a simple dinner at a casino food court. I’ve read raves online about Solaire’s food court so I convinced the hubby to dine there before going home in Bacoor. We weren’t disappointed. It looked like a high-end food court and the dining staff were very attentive. The food was good and cheap, too.

Weekend Story: PhilCare Card, Korean Lunch Buffet and General Cleaning

It was one of those weekends when we weren’t able to visit our Bacoor home and instead, got stuck in Manila to do stuff. Our Saturday was spent with friends while our Sunday was filled with household chores. Haha.

I learned about PhilCare through one of the blogs I read regularly. They offer a list of health services and have several clinics in Metro Manila. My Superf Nice, my good friend Carmela and I availed of their Women’s Health card at P670. (Even if we have our respective Ob-Gyne’s, we thought of trying out PhilCare for experience and to save money.) You see, the card covers three services (one-time use only): Ob-Gyne consultation, pap smear and breast or transvaginal ultrasound. If we were to pay for these services individually, it would set us back at least P2,000. Laking tipid, diba?
