Forever 21 Mania in Manila

Forever 21 fever is on! Or at least for people here in Manila. This American chain of clothing retailers has recently opened its second branch at SM Makati. (The first branch is housed at the enormous SM Megamall.) I was in Makati last Sunday with the boyfriend, his sister A and some friends from Cebu. After having a hearty lunch at Good Earth Tea Room courtesy of the vouchers I got from Groupon Philippines, we decided to burn some calories by walking our way to the nearby SM Makati. I asked our group to peek into the Forever 21 store before heading to Mall of Asia (MOA) to meet up with more friends.

We didn’t know it was just the second day of opening of Forever 21 so we were kinda surprised at how big the crowd was. Boy, was the store huge! As soon as we stepped inside the store, I saw people everywhere I looked. There were lots of merchandise to choose from, I tell you. But it was quite difficult to actually inspect the items and decide to buy because we were in a hurry as we were supposed to go to MOA. In short, I left the store empty-handed but promised myself to be back soon.

Reservation is Full

Well, that was the exact answer I got from the Spanish restaurant in Intramuros I wanted to visit tonight. I know I tried making a reservation too late but from what I gathered, they’re fully-booked until Friday night. This left me with no choice but to reserve a table for three for next week instead. But I’m still undecided on the date, might as well make the booking early next week.

Hmmm, but I really want to go out tonight because I don’t have work at the restaurant. At the very least, I think I would like to check out Robinsons Place Ermita (my fave mall back in college) or Mall of Asia to get my ice cream fix at Dairy Queen and do some shopping. My brother D has been bugging me to get him a new belt, much like those rocawear belts he saw online. (He doesn’t have time to go malling these days because he spends a lot of time reviewing for the LET.) I think I also need new shoes. I hope to get a pair. Or two. Haha.

Lucky Tuesday

March 22 was a milestone for our office as it commemorated its 114th Anniversary. The day, which fell on a Tuesday, was filled with activities to add color to the celebration. It has been a tradition of sorts. First was a fun run where hundreds of employees participated in. Then there were Pinoy games in the afternoon. Though I wasn’t there, I knew it had been exciting and fun. To make things better, we also received free breakfast and snacks.

But nothing beat the joy derived from the anniversary bonus we got. Don’t ask for the exact amount as it wasn’t big. It’s not even given yearly. Let’s just say it was enough to get me some accessories, my siblings some chocolates, my mom a new pair of eye glasses and my dad, some natural hair loss treatment (I think he’s hairline is thinning). Haha, the joy money buys! I bet all employees in our office went home feeling lucky, albeit a bit exhausted from the activities they joined in.

Canon Ixus 105: To Get or Not To Get

When I heard about Canon’s price drop for the entire month of February, I jumped at the idea of getting my first ever digicam. Why not if it was a Canon Ixus 105 and costed almost ten grand only? The original price was P12,950. I mean, it’s Canon. The brand speaks for itself. It would surely be a great buy.

I tried contacting Canon DZone at Mall of Asia last month but the sales personnel there informed me they didn’t have the unit I wanted on stock. I then ask to have one reserved under my name, to which they gamely obliged. When I called up again last week, they still didn’t have the unit. That was the time I accepted the fact I couldn’t have it at a discounted price.

Dealing with Phone Bills

Phone bills can get very costly. I just realized I was paying for three post paid lines at present: one Globe and two Sun Cellular. It’s really convenient to be a post paid subscriber especially during emergencies. I just don’t like the idea of paying more than I could manage. That said, I plan not to renew the contract for one of my Sun Cellular lines expiring in April. It is currently used by my brother but I’m sure he won’t mind as he doesn’t have much use with it these days.

How do you pay for your phone bills? Is it thru bank or over-the-counter? My two Sun Cellular lines are automatically charged to my credit card. I actually plan to do the same with my Globe phone bill. As much as possible, I try to cut my trips to the mall just to settle my phone bills because more often than not, I am tempted to window shop and eventually, buy stuff on impulse. Like one time, I was only supposed to pay for utilities at the bills payment section of the mall but I ended up perusing through a shelf filled with diet pills that work at this health shop with weird name as well. Good thing I was with my mother and she was in a hurry to unload her bladder that I was forced to accompany her to the nearest restroom and leave the shop.
